Position Title VLS Technician

AECOM is actively seeking Vertical Launching System (VLS) Technicians for fleet technical support, VLS inspection and assessment support, certification testing and corrosion control (NACE or SSPC/NBPI trained). Technicians will also be required to support programmatic and liaison support of varying levels by communicating, presentation of data, conducting business, resolving scheduling and milestone date problems for the various customers.
Assist Ship's Force technicians and government personnel to analyze and resolve malfunctions identified during equipment operation and testing.
Analyze equipment review and inspection data to determine source of fault, and recommend repair, replacement or other corrective action.
Assist with the installation of engineering changes toward improving quality and reliability and to facilitate installation, maintenance and repair.
Report findings/discrepancies as required via TAAS, Maintenance Action Forms, written / electronic de-brief and/or write a Technical Assistance Visit Report (TAVR) Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.
A minimum of five (5) years’ full-time hands-on technician level experience within last 10 years in assembly, installation, testing, troubleshooting, fault isolation, test and repair of Combat, ASW, USW, MIW, or C4I systems and equipment.
Specialized experience: A minimum of two (2) years full time hands-on technician experience within last 5 years in assembly, overhaul, repair, modification, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of shipboard Combat ASW, USW, MIW or C4I systems.
Position requires the ability to work onboard US Navy ships and access ship repair industrial facilities.
Position may require travel.
Position requires an active Security Clearance and ability to obtain a Common Access Card.
A preferred candidate will be able to:
Applies advanced technical knowledge to solve unusually complex problems that typically cannot be solved solely by referencing manufacturers’ manuals or similar documents. Examples of such problems include:
determining the location and density of circuitry
evaluating electromagnetic radiation
incorporating engineering changes
Exercises independent judgment in performing such tasks as analyzing electronic circuits, calculating waveforms, and tracing relationships in signal flow. Uses complex test instruments such as oscilloscopes, high frequency pulse generators, frequency synthesizers, distortion analyzers, and complex computer controlled equipment.
