Job Summary

The Design and Consulting Services Division of AECOM is actively seeking highly motivated entry level survey technicians for immediate employment in the Newark, DE office. The appropriately qualified applicant will perform routine survey work using understanding of survey practices and equipment. The entry level survey technician will perform assignments under the direction of a supervisor and project technical staff and will receive training and direction on work and techniques to be used. The applicant must be willing to work in an outside environment and have the ability to travel. AECOM is proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging projects. The position will have the opportunity to work on projects including transportation, industrial, municipal and state agency clients throughout the region.

Major functions include:

  • Works as a general aide on land survey projects, occasionally operates an instrument, clears heavy brush and thickets, drives stakes, takes simple notes, makes minor sketches, cleans and cares for vehicles and equipment

  • Performs minor computations

  • Performs incidental clerical and custodial duties and may be responsible for the operation and upkeep of survey equipment including but not limited to survey vehicles

  • Gathers equipment and helps load and unload survey vehicles

  • This position has no responsibility for direction of others

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.

  • Ability/willingness to travel weeks at a time

  • Ability to follow directions

  • Ability to withstand working outdoors year-round

  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs.

  • Capable of functioning with spreadsheet, word processing and standard office software

  • Must have adequate oral and written communication skills and the ability to work well on teams

  • Knowledge of mathematics

  • Ability to pass a background check

  • Due to the nature of this work, U.S. citizenship is required

  • Must possess a clean driving record and possess a valid DE, MD, PA or NJ driver license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or higher in surveying or engineering technology

  • Experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D or MicroStation

  • Experience with field to finish processes
