AECOM Sr Mechanical Engineering Design Manager in New York, New York

Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a Sr. Mechanical Engineering Design Manager to lead our Energy design team from one of our major Energy office locations (New York, NY / Germantown, MD / Oakland, CA / Chicago, IL).

This position will lead the overall mechanical engineering practice for the DCSA Energy national Business Line. A successful candidate will lead the Technical Practice Network and will be responsible for establishing engineering processes and ensuring high quality engineering deliverables for our clients. Responsible for a variety of engineering tasks in the initial planning, design and modification phase of projects. Our primary markets include utility customers, city/municipalities, commercial/industrial, and US Federal government clients.

  • Supports, oversees and coordinates engineering production activities for an operating unit.

  • Makes decisions and recommendations that are recognized as authoritative.

  • Initiates and maintains contact with senior-level management within the company and is skilled in dispute resolution and negotiation of critical issues. At this level, the individual will have demonstrated understanding of project delivery requirements, creativity, foresight, working with a multi-disciplinary team to meet project goals and deliver high quality technical excellence.

  • Demonstrates mature judgment in anticipating and solving both routine and unusual operations problems, determining operational objectives and requirements, organizing programs and projects, and developing standards and guides for diverse engineering activities.

  • Supervision received is essentially administrative with assignments given in terms of broad general objectives and limits.

Minimum Requirements

BA/BS + 10 YORE or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, including 2 years of leadership

Preferred Qualifications

Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred

Advanced Engineering or Technical degree preferred

Experience in power systems engineering, combined heat & power, thermodynamic modeling capability, etc. is a plus

Experience with energy efficiency and/or commissioning a plus
