Job Summary

AECOM Global Corporate Communications & Corporate Responsibility is a geographically-dispersed, integrated communications team and corporate responsibility program.

Based in New York, the Communications Specialist - Enterprise Programs Communications will develop internal and external communications related to key enterprise-wide initiatives for several areas including Corporate Responsibility, Inclusion & Diversity, Safety, Health & Environment, Sustainability and Resiliency as well as enterprise-wide communications to leaders and managers to engage, inform and inspire AECOM’s approximately 90,000 employees worldwide.

Reporting to a New York-based Manager, Enterprise Programs and Leader Communications, the Specialist will partner with that Manager and another Manager, Enterprise Programs, to develop and execute communications strategies and activities that tell the story of AECOM’s enterprise-wide commitments and values and which reflect the brand to key stakeholders, including employees, media, industry organizations and current and potential clients.

The Specialist will join an energetic, smart, fun New York-based cohort of the Global Corporate Communications team, working closely with the remaining predominantly-Los Angeles based team. The role will collaborate with global partners across the Global Communications and Marketing function and partner with cross-functional colleagues across the company involved in enterprise initiatives.

Responsibilities include:

  • Creating engaging and effective internal and external content for the intranet, website, email, mobile applications, press materials and senior leader presentations and speaking engagements

  • Contributing to the development of an integrated communications strategy to raise awareness of AECOM’s enterprise initiatives and drive thought leadership and a positive reputation for AECOM as a key player and leader in the areas of Corporate Responsibility, Inclusion & Diversity, Safety, Health & Environment, Sustainability and Resiliency

  • Developing and executing strategic communications plans to inform, engage and inspire key stakeholders

  • Researching, outlining, writing, editing and proofreading communications stories and other materials

  • Expertly managing long-lead projects with multiple stakeholders and subject-matter experts

  • Engaging with colleagues around the globe to align activities and provide support

  • Developing strong relationships with internal clients to provide communications support while ensuring timely follow-up and reliable follow-through of deliverables based on production schedules

  • Ensuring all communication materials meet internally-set quality and consistency standards

Minimum Requirements

Candidates should possess a degree in communications, marketing, journalism or related discipline along with 3+ years of professional communications experience with global, multi-site organizations.

Key competencies, skills and attributes include:

  • Exceptional written and verbal communications skills, including copyediting, with a preference for compelling storytelling style, and familiarity with AP style

  • Self-starter with a can-do attitude, always looking around the corner to anticipate what’s coming next, and capable of assuming oversight and responsibility for several tasks at once with little supervision

  • Strong research skills and ability to synthesize complex research and data into creative, persuasive and compelling stories for a variety of global audiences

  • Exceptional attention to detail to ensure accuracy, completeness and thoroughness of all work

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize, multi-task and effectively project manage a variety of concurrent assignments in a demanding environment and under tight deadlines

  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships and work effectively at all levels of a global organization

  • Represent Global Corporate Communications in a collegial, cooperative and collaborative manner.

  • High energy, reliable and enthusiastic team player

  • Experience with content management systems (such as SharePoint, Salesforce)

  • Familiarity with communications marketing and employee communication tools (such as Poppulo)

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint, Word and Excel

  • Experience with Adobe Suite, including Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with email marketing software, such as Poppulo

  • Video editing experience a plus
