The Rail Systems group of AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Senior Traction Power Engineer IV for immediate employment in the New York City office.

The incumbent can look forward to projects including design and construction of traction power for new light and heavy rail and streetcar systems across the US and Canada . Typical projects this group works on also include design for local commuter rail systems such as Metro North, LIRR, Amtrak, Port Authority, NYC Transit and New Jersey Transit.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Meet schedule and budget constraints per project demands
Working with third rail systems and load flow study (performing load flow studies and analyzing them)
Assist rail system manager with proposals
Engineering and design of traction power AC and DC systems
Provide schedule input for design tasks and preparation of task budgets
Develop and review designs and construction drawings
Identify construction costs trending out of budget
Manage the preparation of milestone submittals
Review contractor submittals and support the installation of traction power systems components and software
Work with OCS engineers to coordinate work on all projects
Participate in project working meetings and manage meeting minute tasks
Produce construction specifications
Develop cost estimates and projections
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
10+ years of experience in Electrical/Traction Power design and construction of engineering projects
Experience with electrified rail transit systems (AC and DC systems)
Knowledge of traction power AC and DC High and Low Voltage systems including relaying, rectifier, distribution and SCADA equipment
Knowledge of AREMA and IEEE standards for Traction Power design
Experience working on large transit/railroad projects with Substations, 3rd rail and/or Overhead Contact distribution systems
Strong drafting skills in AutoCAD or Microstation
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power point)
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Demonstrate an established career in rail systems design, traction power, specific to rail transit systems including but not limited to light and heavy rail, streetcar, and commuter rail (such as Amtrak, LIRR, Metro North, NYC Transit and New Jersey transit)
Registration as a Professional Engineer in the United States
