Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking an MWDBE/SDVOB Compliance Specialist for immediate employment at our New York City Metro office.

AECOM recognizes that the success of our local MWDBE/SDVOB program is critical, and consequently, we have made a corporate commitment by expanding our team to include an in-house MWDBE/SDVOB Compliance Unit. The unit is focused on enhancing AECOM’s capacity to reach and assist a broader range of MWDBE/SDVOB businesses, strategic planning, and monitoring compliance within the region.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed below:

  • Review Project Specifications to determine project specific MWDBE/SDVOB goals and requirements

  • Communicate goals to bid and project team

  • Assist with development and revisions of MWDBE/SDVOB Firm Questionnaire as part of qualifying process for MWDBE/SDVOB subcontractors and vendors

  • Determine the appropriate directory of certified firms maintained by State and/or Federal agencies to use as the primary source to solicit certified MWDBE/SDVOB firms

  • Conduct outreach to the MWDBE/SDVOB community to identify opportunities for participation in each project

  • Vet potential MWDBE/SDVOB subcontractors and vendors to ensure the firm can perform all contract requirements

  • Maintain roster of certified MWDBE/SDVOB enterprises

  • Document Good Faith Efforts to reach the MWDBE/SDVOB participation goals for each project

  • Support Estimating and Purchasing Departments in identifying qualified and available MWDBE/SDVOB firms for RFPs, RFQs, and active projects

  • Ensure subcontractors and subconsultants proposed on the M/W/DBE plans are certified to perform the proposed scope of work

  • Assist in the development of pre-bid and post-bid MWDBE/SDVOB utilization plans

  • Attend industry MWDBE/SDVOB networking events

  • Monitor and maintain accurate records and statistics on MWDBE/SDVOB utilization/percentages and how it compares to the project/contract goals

  • Develop Commercially Useful Function (“CUF”) Affidavits for MWDBE/SDVOB firms to attest that they have actually performed a CUF

  • Assist Project Managers in preparing and filing Monthly Utilization Reports, where required, attesting to progress toward MWDBE/SDVOB goals

  • Participate in monthly meetings with project management to monitor efforts to meet MWDBE/SDVOB goals

  • Conduct job site visits to monitor M/W/DBE efforts for each project and address any issues needing corrective action

  • Troubleshoot any problems involving MWDBE/SDVOB firms during project management

  • Alert program Director of any MWDBE/SDVOB performance or compliance deficiencies

  • Update M/W/DBE Utilization Plans, as required, during project performance

  • Keep up with evolving MWDBE/SDVOB laws, requirements and regulations

  • Assist with designing an internal training on MWDBE/SDVOB programs for all relevant company staff

  • Assist with the development and implementation of a program to audit the existing compliance policies

  • Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual reports on each project’s progress toward goals, as well as overall company performance of its MWDBE/SDVOB Program

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent

  • 3+ experience in dealing with MWDBE/SDVOB compliance issues and/or diversity programs

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong interviewing skills, persuasive skills and perseverance in investigating

  • Proficient in use of various computer software

  • Ability to perform outdoor related activities associated with on-site visits
