Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Cost Consultant for employment in the New York, NY office.

The candidate will support their Corporate Services and Real Estate division in the procurement and financial control of workplace and infrastructure projects, by providing the services listed below. Projects range in size and value from $75k to several $million and comprise moves, alterations and changes to the Client’s real estate portfolio across the Americas.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:


  • Prepare and issue Request for Information, Requests for Qualification, Requests for Proposal

  • Use client’s proprietary software to undertake procurement of projects

  • Respond to vendor queries

  • Level and analyze bids and issue analysis report and recommendation

  • Prepare Purchase Orders, Letter Agreements, Contracts for all appointments (consultants, contractors, direct vendors)

Project Controls

  • Measure, take-off quantities for design milestone estimates

  • Prepare monthly financial reports

  • Review and advice on uncommitted balances

  • Review and advice on contingency balances

  • Review vendor invoices, applications for payment

  • Lead the change control process

  • Project financial close-out

  • Use client specific software to cost manage projects

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction discipline or related field

  • 5+ years of relevant experience

  • Ability to work under own initiative and unsupervised, but also as part of a team

  • Experience of interior construction, fit-out in a commercial, office environment

  • Impeccable verbal, written and numeracy skills in a client facing capacity

  • Have a broad technical knowledge but possess an area of specialization or focus, specifically Procurement and Project Controls, and be able to develop and formulate solutions to client problems on assigned projects

  • Due to the nature of this work, qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in construction discipline is desirable

  • Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors is highly desirable
