LBG is actively seeking a highly talented Chief Estimator for immediate employment.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Directs the estimating portion of a project while collaborating with the design team, project management, client representatives, architects, joint venture partners and prospective subcontractors to analyze cost data regarding project feasibility and projected budget

  • Manages and supervises estimating team to have final proposal of cost and estimating projections

  • Finalizes full estimating services on all size projects and contract types, including but not limited to quantity surveying/takeoff, drawing and specifications review, systems review and life cycle analysis, value engineering, alternates analysis and sustainability review

  • Negotiates, analyzes and presents value engineering and cost savings opportunities to clients and works with budget constraints

  • Provide estimates in appropriate level of detail at conceptual, schematic design, design development and construction document phases

  • Oversees pricing estimates, reviews compilation of clarifications and assumptions of project to accompany estimate and/or GMP (guaranteed maximum price) submissions. Gives final approval and complete reviews of estimate packages to ensure accuracy and completeness prior to final bid submission

  • Collaborates with pre-construction team workload such as acquiring additional project information to finalize proposals such as preliminary schedules, procurement schedule and cost analysis, GMP, construction documents, blueprints, bid packages from subcontractors and contractors, etc

  • Negotiates and engages with subcontractor community to gain assistance with budgeting and bidding

  • Participate in bid presentations to clients and assume significant responsibility for closing the “sale”

  • Provide advice, guidance, mentoring and direction to junior estimating staff and interns toward the achievement of their personal development goals

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related field

  • 10+ years of experience in quantity survey take-off experience to provide proficiency in take-off and familiarization with standard construction details and drawings

  • Knowledge of Estimating computer system and proficient knowledge of PC based applications such as Microsoft Excel

  • Ability to communicate with all participants involved in the estimating process

  • Must be a team player

  • Must be able to work well under constant pressure of deadlines and prioritize tasks to meet schedules

  • Creative thinking is required to visualize all related trade items especially for conceptual estimating with a minimum of documentation

  • Must be able to present and describe your work to your supervisors, and other members of the pre-construction and project management team, as well as client representatives

Preferred Qualifications

  • 15+ years of quantity survey take-off experience to provide proficiency in take-off and familiarization with standard construction details and drawings

  • Previous experience with estimating, project management, scheduling and value engineering

  • Maintain presence in professional association(s) (e.g. (e.g. BOMA, Associated Builders & Contractors, ABA, ACE, ASPE, AGC, USGBC, CASHE, DBIA) to keep abreast of industry advancements, build rapport with industry partners and maintain credentials
