AECOM Quality Engineer in New York City, New York

Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a Quality Engineer, this position will have overall responsibility for the design and coordination of technical issues among various disciplines on transportation projects involving highways, bridges and transit/rail structures and facilities.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Performs oversight of processes, activities and work performed by contractors , interfaces with the contractor's quality representatives, code compliance unit and other construction support personnel (i.e. safety, geotechnical, environmental, survey). Work closely with the construction management team in managing the quality of work performed.

  • Reviews the contractor's quality program, construction work plans, inspection checklists and attends readiness reviews of major construction activities.

  • Conduct Quality Management Meetings with the contractor and the Construction Management Staff.

  • Walk the site periodically to verify the quality of work performed by the Contractor and the management of the contractor’s work by the Construction Management Team.

  • Performs oversight of contractor's implementation of its Quality Management System Plan.

  • Reviews reports for consistency and completeness on daily construction activities, resources, and progress, reports and manage quality non-conformances, deficiencies and contractor's corrective actions.

  • Reviews plans, specifications and approved submittals and assists inspectors in identifying deviations from quality requirements in the field.

  • Performs quarterly Quality Evaluations of assigned contracts.

  • Performs process audits to confirm conformance to process procedures.

  • Provides quality related training as required.

  • Tracks and reports on contractor's audit activities.

  • Perform audits of subcontractors, subconsultants, manufacturing facilities and test facilities.

  • Schedules and chairs periodic Quality Workshops with the contractor's Quality Representatives and the Construction management Team.

  • Attends Quality Management and Construction progress meetings as required.

  • Witness tests to verify conformance to approved test procedures.

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS + 6 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Preferred Qualifications

  • ASQ Quality Manager certification preferred but not required.

  • Knowledge of industry practices and hands-on experience in Quality Assurance and Quality Control in the construction industry.

  • Background in quality for electrical and communication systems contracts is preferred.
