Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Jr. Transportation Planner for employment in the New York, NY office. AECOM is pleased to include you in a unique development opportunity, the Graduate Development Program (GDP). This program is designed to support your assimilation into the organization and assist with creating a foundation of knowledge for a successful career at AECOM. The responsibilities of the this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Transportation Policy Analysis, Transportation & Transit Planning Studies, traffic analysis and policy support tasks

  • Development of data collection programs for traffic, freight and transit related projects

  • Research planning alternatives and analyses for transportation related planning projects

  • Conduct alternative analysis for transportation planning related projects including roadway, transit and freight mobility

  • Position will interact with both clients and staff

  • May be required make professional presentations to client or agency representatives from time to time

  • Interact with multi-discipline and multi-office teams within AECOM

Minimum Requirements

BA/BS + None or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in traffic or transportation engineering/design or other related field; preferred Master's degree in Transportatio Planning or Civil Engineering iwth an emphasis in traffic or transportation engineering/design or related field

  • Diverse experience in transportation planning and development, and local government planning/transportation/transit policies and procedures. Must have working knowledge and understanding of industry related analyses and development concepts as they pertain to land use, traffic, transportation and urban planning/policy. Experience in applying policy and urban design guidelines/standards for infrastructure based studies/projects to identify and evaluate alternatives

  • Must be able to develop documents in MS Office

  • Effective time-management, written communications, analytical, and interpersonal skills

  • Solid decision-making, planning and organizational skills

  • Excel/Access Database development/analysis

  • ArcGIS
