AECOM Environmental Scientist II in New York City, New York

Job Summary

AECOM has a position available for an Environmental Scientist with the option of working in our New York, NY, Piscataway, NJ or Clifton, NJ offices.

The responsibilities of this position include, but may not be limited to the following:

  • The field activities will consist of air, soil vapor, soil, groundwater and sediment sample collection, geological logging and interpretation, and the oversight of investigation and remediation subcontractors including laboratories and excavation and drilling companies

  • Assist with gathering and analyzing geological and hydrogeological data in both the field and office settings

  • Task Management Experience

  • Strong technical background

  • Preparing complex site conceptual models

  • Collecting and evaluating environmental data in field and office settings

  • Preparing investigation reports and drawings

  • Technical report writing

  • Investigation cost estimating

  • Identifying, preparing and demonstrating compliance with relevant permits

  • Independent field work and leadership of field teams

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Science

2+ years of experience to include one or more of the following:

  • site investigation methods

  • soil/groundwater remediation technologies

  • background in qualitative and quantitative hydrogeology, data evaluation, and management issues

  • demonstrated technical role in multiple site characterization, subsurface investigation and remediation projects

Must be capable of executing field work such as the ability to lift 30 lbs., work outside in various inclement weather conditions and walk long distances or in rugged terrain

Valid US driver’s license required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with New York and/or New Jersey environmental regulations

  • Proficient using MS Office

  • GIS

  • Surfer software

  • Able to effectively communicate technical issues to clients

  • Experience with remedial investigations

  • Experience with contractor management

  • Strong technical background;

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
