Position Title Water Resources/Stormwater Engineer

AECOM is actively seeking a highly talented and motivated Water Resources/Stormwater Engineer for immediate employment in our Morrisville, NC office. The successful candidate will be focused on supporting project managers while working on a diverse range of projects and task execution, and is expected to grow into being a project manager, leading projects and managing clients independently. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Prepares construction documents, engineering reports, and basic data and scientific documents regarding stormwater, water quality, watershed management, and best management practices
Leads or supports the design efforts for a variety of water resources projects
Performs hydrologic, hydraulic, and water quality modeling, and geospatial evaluations
Performs watershed and water quality assessments and conventional aspects of watershed planning and BMP prioritization
Participates in developing practices for public agencies to maintain compliance with stormwater regulations
Prepares written and graphic reports and makes presentations
Supports the development of proposals in response to RFQs
Participates in developing services for planning, design, engineering, procurement and contracting, permitting and construction services
Displays interest in business development with local, state, and federal clients
Responsible for training and mentoring of junior staff
Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or related engineering field
5+ years of experience
Understanding of surface water quality, stormwater quality, and stormwater management in construction and post-construction settings, hydrology, fluvial processes, and applicable rules and regulations
Ability to organize and manage staff on complex projects and coordinate with public agencies.
Thorough knowledge of engineering and construction principles, practices and procedures, applicable laws and government regulations, principles of management and supervision and procedures and policies of departments and facility
Strong customer service skills
Good organizational, leadership, influencing, and negotiation skills
Experience in detention basin modeling and a working knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position (examples include software, such as CADD, HEC-RAS, AutoCAD, MicroStation)
Occasional travel is required, including overnight trips of one to two week duration
Must posses a valid driver's license and the ability to safely drive extended distances:
7+ years of experience
Erosion and sedimentation control design
Developing project plans and specifications, and cost estimates
Developing stormwater management retrofit design plans (site and structural)
Conducting watershed level inventories and assessments
Low Impact Development (LID) and Environmental Site Design (ESD) assessment and design, including within right-of-ways
Creating site specific conceptual design through construction documents
Applying ecological principles to the resolution of challenges posed by the built environment
Construction bid support
