Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly talented and motivated Geotechnical Engineer II for immediate employment in our Morrisville, NC office.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Conducts subsurface exploration with multiple types of drilling equipment for assessment for roadways, foundations, earthen dams and embankments, ash basin closures, disposal facilities and a wide variety of challenging civil engineering and environmental projects

  • Logs borings to classify soil and rock characteristics, assign laboratory testing to understand engineering characteristics of soils

  • Conducts site reconnaissance to plan and implements Geotechnical explorations and related field activities

  • Supports communications with multi-disciplinary AECOM project team

  • Monitors and observes field testing for earthworks and foundation installation

  • Conducts analyses for foundation support, settlement, slope stability, liquefaction assessment, and liquid flow through soils

  • Organize sand prepares reports, maps, drawings, tests, and other topographical and hydrologic data to plan and design projects

  • Incorporates schedules, budgets, constructability, and other project criteria into Civil design and layouts

  • Efficiently employs standard techniques, procedures, and criteria while developing advanced methods to improve efficiency

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related engineering field

  • 2+ years of Geotechnical Engineering experience

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook)

  • Strong organizational, technical, and communications skills

  • Commitment to working efficiently to complete tasks within allotted schedule constraints

  • Due to the nature of this work, qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test

Preferred Qualifications

  • Computer-aided design support for solid waste facilities, earthen dams, impoundments and related facilities

  • Experience in solid waste or earthen dam facility design support

  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and similar modeling software

  • Interest and experience in Construction Administration or Quality Assurance
