AECOM Sewer Assessment Intern in Mississauga, Ontario

Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a Sewer Assessment Intern to be based in Hamilton or Mississauga, Ontario.

This position is expected to begin in July 2022.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Inspect all phases of construction to ensure that the work is carried out in accordance with specifications regarding material requirements, alignment, grade, finish, compaction, etc.

  • Document the site conditions, equipment, manpower usage, material installations, quantities, and the work being performed by the Contractor

  • Confirm that all onsite testing during installation is in conformance with the Contract Specifications

  • Respond to the contractor and public inquiries

  • Ensures deficiencies are corrected prior to acceptance of the work

  • Working on complex data sets in conjunction with other CAD and GIS technical staff

  • Ensuring overall data quality and integrity

  • Prepare civil design drawings and design calculations

  • Prepare documentation for design projects and reports

  • Undertake quality control procedures

  • Assure that engineering-related issues are promptly relayed to the Project Manager for action and follows up to assure timeliness of resolution efforts

Minimum Requirements

  • In pursuit of a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or related field

  • Must have completed one year of study

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical or Associates degree in Civil Engineering Technology (or equivalent)

  • Basic understanding of Data Science, Machine Learning and AI

  • Proficient with MS Office Suite

  • Certified or eligible for certification as a C.E.T and a member of the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, contractors and clients

  • Comfortable working in a multi-disciplinary environment

  • Great time management skills

  • Ability to work in field or office conditions, and work and communicate with clients, contractors and other AECOM staff.

  • Previous experience, including construction inspection experience and design experience in surface grading, water and sewer pipe networks and detail design
