Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a Project Manager / Senior Transportation Planner/ Engineer who is looking for an opportunity to expand their experience and responsibility combined with exposure to a wide variety of transportation engineering/planning projects across the greater Toronto and Hamilton area, as well as around the globe.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

Project Management:

  • Ensure that deliverables comply with applicable regulations standards, corporate procedures and sound engineering practices

  • Effectively manage projects on time and on budget with quality, meeting client expectations

  • Familiarity with transit agencies in the Greater Toronto Area

  • Ensure compliance of technical and quality standards

  • Comply with corporate safety goals and initiatives

  • Communicates effectively with clients, internal and external team members

  • Ensure accuracy, completeness and quality of technical information and project documentation in accordance with QA/QC programs

Transportation Planning/Engineering:

  • Provide clients with transportation strategic planning, engineering and economic business case services, including work on:

  • Transportation master plan studies; environmental assessments for transportation facilities; multimodal transit station planning, functional design; traffic impact studies; strategic transportation modelling, peer reviews, and subject matter expertise in macro and micro simulation analysis.

  • Prepare documentation related to current or prospective projects, including correspondence, reports, proposals, expressions of interest, specifications and meeting minutes

  • Communicate and work with other project team members to provide quality service to clients to ensure that all documentation conforms to client/company standards

  • Lead and support technical and financial responses to RFP’S, RQQ etc.

  • Liaise with and assist other departments and offices in the provision of transportation planning services to clients

Minimum Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or greater

  • Strong technical and ability to interoperate analytical outputs from transportation planning modelling tools such as EMME v2 or greater and/or TransCAD, VISSUM and or equivalent, VISSIM and AIMSUN

  • Strong technical writing skill

  • Lead, mentor and grow a small team of professional staff

  • Strong verbal communicator, including presentation, facilitation and listening skills

  • Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite that includes Word, Excel and PowerPoint

  • Experience in a professional consulting environment

  • Experience in transportation planning policies and infrastructure economics, including appreciation of transit service systems and revenue forecasting

  • Experience undertaking planning studies with large data sets

  • Familiarity with public finance issues related to municipalities and provinces in Canada

  • Familiarity with urban planning and related policy issues

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in civil engineering or greater with an strong emphasis on transportation planning and economics would be advantageous

  • 4 Stage modeling methods and travel demand

  • Microsimulation using VISSIM and/or AIMSUN

  • Transit service operations and planning practices

  • Experience undertaking transit planning/policy studies with large data sets

  • Knowledge of transit planning, operations and priority assessments

  • Cycle / pedestrian facilities planning/assessments/systems

  • TDM
