Job Description

AECOM's Water Division is looking for a visionary and energetic Director of Business Development to spearhead growth and strategic initiatives in the water and wastewater sector. This position is based in the Toronto area.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Planning : Develop and execute comprehensive marketing strategies and plans.

  • Market Analysis : Identify and anticipate market trends and opportunities.

  • Collaboration : Partner with business leaders to drive growth and build a unified business development team.

  • Relationship Building : Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, and industry stakeholders.

  • Representation : Act as an ambassador for AECOM, a leader in the water sector.

  • Project Oversight : Lead major pursuits and capture plans in line with business development strategies.

  • Technical Integration : Leverage technical expertise across the organization to support project pursuits.

  • Contract Negotiation : Secure favorable contract terms and manage financial targets.

  • Risk Management : Identify and mitigate risks during the pursuit process.

  • Client Satisfaction : Ensure client satisfaction and proactively address any service issues.

  • Team development : Manage and develop geographically dispersed team members according to AECOM’s core values and performance standards.

  • Innovation and Morale : Foster collaboration, innovation, and positive team morale.

  • Cultural Integration : Embed AECOM’s Sustainable Legacies, Safety and Ethics & Compliance programs into the team culture.

  • Financial Management : Oversee business development budgets and align priorities with market trends.

  • Growth Strategy : Collaborate with technical and regional leaders to drive growth strategies and technical leadership hires.

  • Performance Monitoring : Track key performance indicators such as pipeline health, sales, bookings, backlog growth, and client satisfaction.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant engineering discipline (civil, mechanical, etc.)

  • 10+ years of experience in the water/wastewater industry

  • 8+ years of experience in developing and implementing water and wastewater projects

  • Extensive knowledge of the North American and/or Canadian municipal water/wastewater market

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering

  • 20+ years of progressive experience in the municipal water industry

  • Proven success in client development and strategic relationship building

  • Strong track record in business development

  • Ability to identify and develop strategies for other water-related markets

  • Flexibility in a fast-paced, complex work environment

Additional Information

  • Sponsorship for Canadian employment authorization is not available for this position.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $150,000.00 - $200,000.00.
