Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Environmental Compliance Specialist I or II for our Minneapolis, MN location, with a background in environmental and regulatory compliance for employment in our Minneapolis office to support environmental projects. The position will provide many challenges, an opportunity to work with multiple industrial clients, and an opportunity to gain experience in multiple environmental consulting disciplines.

This person will be responsible for executing project tasks for industrial and commercial clients under the direction and mentorship of senior technical staff. Projects may include air permitting, annual report preparation, emission calculations, field work for site investigation and remediation.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Executing all work safely and in a professional manner

  • Preparing calculations, reports, permit applications, compliance plans, and other technical documents

  • Supporting industrial site investigation and remediation projects

  • Complying with the AECOM quality management system

  • Excellent communication (written and oral) skills, including technical report writing and data evaluation capabilities as well as detailed field (on-site) observations and associated documentation

  • Client interaction may be required for this position; therefore, candidate must be able to represent AECOM independently of direct oversight

  • Excellent organizational skills, including being capable of tracking multiple simultaneous deliverables and deadlines, at times for multiple clients

  • Time management skills are critical, as the candidate must be able to meet deadlines and balance work loads

  • Ability to work in a team environment, as well as the skills necessary to operate as a primary staff member or practitioner on various types of environmental projects

Minimum Requirements

Environmental Compliance Specialist I

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering, environmental science, chemistry, or other relevant scientific discipline

  • 0 to 2 years of relevant experience in environmental compliance

  • Excellent computer skills with Excel including knowledge and capability to develop macros within Excel

  • Minimum of 2 areas of environmental compliance requirements and development and implementation of regulatory compliance programs related to CAA, CWA, RCRA, CERCLA, EPCRA, OPA, etc.

OR

Environmental Compliance Specialist II

  • Bachelor's degree in science or related field required

  • 2+ years of relevant experience in environmental compliance

  • Excellent computer skills with Excel including knowledge and capability to develop macros within Excel

  • Minimum of 2 areas of environmental compliance requirements and development and implementation of regulatory compliance programs related to CAA, CWA, RCRA, CERCLA, EPCRA, OPA, etc.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1 year of experience in environmental compliance.

  • Completed HAZWOPER 40-hour Training with, as applicable, current on 8-hour refresher

  • Clean Air Act permitting or compliance experience

Additional Information:

  • This position does not include sponsorship for United States Work Authorization.

  • Travel to project locations at client sites, anywhere in the US (including US Territories) will be required.

  • Travel duration may be up to two consecutive weeks but is normally less than 30% per year.

  • Must possess a valid driver's license

  • Relocation is not available for this position.
