Position Title Social Scientist Lead

Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking an experienced, creative, highly talented Social Scientist Lead for immediate employment in the Mexico City office.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Identification, description, evaluation and analysis of social impact

  • Carries out social-based studies with a description of the socio-economic and cultural environment and the analysis of the social challenges (or issues, issues, issues) that affect the development of a project

  • Knowledge of the requirements of environmental impact studies and the integration of the social component in such studies

  • Field research / field work

  • Interviews with key informants, organization / workshop animation, focus group and community meetings

  • Linkage and social communication

  • Ethnographic, social, political and historical analysis

  • Drafts reports in English and Spanish that comply with national regulations and international standards

  • Negotiates with clients in collaboration with internal technical, legal, and contract stakeholders

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical discipline, such as environmental engineering, ecology, social science or other environmental discipline

  • 10+ years of experience perform field

  • Strong skills in written and spoken communication

  • Organization and time management skill

  • Flexibility to work on a diversity of technical projects, a positive attitude, a willingness to learn, and a commitment to workplace health and safety are imperative

  • Bilingual: Fluent Spanish and English

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a relevant technical discipline, such as environmental engineering, ecology, social science or other environmental discipline

  • Ability to travel, with up to 25% of time away from the office
