Job Summary

Due to recent growth in the sector, AECOM is looking to add a Hazardous Area Engineer to their existing team of high calibre professionals.

In this exciting new opportunity, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Site investigations and detailed inspections

  • Process and safety analysis of sites

  • Detailed design of explosion protection schemes and installations for hazardous areas

  • Preparation of detailed reports on your findings

Minimum Requirements

About You

  • Degree qualified as an Electrical/Instrumentation and Control Engineer.

  • Ideally you will have formal recognition of competency for classification of hazardous areas.

  • MIE Australia with nominal 5 to 8 years’ experience in process industries.

  • Exposure to process operations, mechanical and chemical design. (e.g. Oil and gas, food, manufacturing, pharmaceutical etc).

  • Have a genuine desire to expand your career in hazardous areas, demonstrated through some previous exposure to hazardous areas as well the basic principles and requirements for hazardous areas. Examples of such previous exposure could include:

o 240/415V power systems, motor control and associated control and protection schemes.

o PLC and SCADA systems

o Instrumentation

o Security/Fire

o Communications/data transmission

o Exposure to relevant Australian Standards and the range of manufacturers and suppliers servicing the industry.

In addition you will demonstrate:

o Excellent communication skills – written and oral. The ability to structure and prepare logical and accurate reports considering high levels of detail is a must.

o Good research skills and ability to make sound judgements and interpretations on research undertaken

o Ability to learn quickly

o Self-motivation and drive

o Good balance between use of knowledge & experience and willingness to learn.
