Position Title Senior Mechanical Engineer

Job Summary

As a Mechanical Engineer you will contribute to concept design, develop detailed design for Project Manager approval as well as attend design team meetings as appropriate.

Job Duties:

  • Contribute to design development, design risk and mitigation and value engineering

  • Attend design team meetings.

  • Obtain design information from sub-consultants/equipment suppliers.

  • Produce detailed design information including calculations and design sketches.

  • Elaborate design drawings.

  • Elaborate technical reports.

  • Elaborate project specifications for construction.

  • Carry out risk assessments and provision of design information for Health and Safety file.

  • General Accountabilities:

  • Complete timesheets on a daily basis, allocating time correctly against job numbers.

  • Help to manage the team against the basis of fees and costs.

  • Understand own and team contribution and impact on projects and develop an awareness of the implications for projects through the project management system.

  • Work within the financial and programme constraints and consider financial implications in producing design options.

  • Contribute and provide information for fee proposals.

  • Mentor junior engineers

Specific Skills Required:

  • Used to work in mayor EPC contracts

  • Knowledgeable of European (EN) and American Standards (ANSI, IEEE)

  • Used to work in a BIM environments and with BIM modelers

  • HVAC experience for technical and electrical rooms.

  • Experience in fire extinction systems

  • Experience in designing considering system assurance (RAMS)

  • Electrical experience (low voltage, lighting, access detection systems)

  • Rail, public transportation (stations) or industrial experience valued.

  • Used to write specifications for procurement

  • Used to work with teams in different parts of the world and considering time zones

  • Good level of English for day to day work and interface with the client

  • Knowledge of French valued

Minimum Requirements

  • 10 years of experience in designing mechanical systems, especially for rail and industrial plants.

  • Experience in design and delivery of large-scale transport projects within the consulting industry.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Mechanical Engineer (MSc)
