Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Senior Procurement Manager. This role will be responsible for approximately $500 million in spend and manages a staff of up to 10 people in the procurement department.

This position can be located in a number of AECOM California offices.

The responsibilities of this position include, but not limited to:

  • Ensures that procurement functions are performed in conformance with the requirements of the prime contract with the client

  • Works with others on project teams to identify/approve sources for the materials and equipment

  • Monitors supplier performance/progress, facilitates early identification and timely resolution of potential problems

  • Participate as a member of the Regional management team and inform on procurement strategies and risks

  • Internally promote the benefits and costs savings opportunities of utilizing the procurement function

  • Deliver and effective and efficient procurement function that provides value to project managers

  • Provides training, mentoring and utilization of procurement personnel

  • Ensures compliance with Company policies, procedures, standards, and Subcontractor pre-qualification

  • Participates with management in development and execution of procurement strategies and plans

  • Assists, as required, with procurement issues and opportunities in project and client pursuits

  • Assists in the evaluation of business opportunities

  • Consults with Legal and Risk Management Groups as required

  • Travel as needed

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance and accounting or demonstrated equivalent combination of education, training and related experience

  • 8+ years of experience in subcontracting and procurement preferably in the field of engineering or construction with a minimum of 5 years in a supervisory capacity

  • Ability to effectively lead a procurement organization to support company or project requirements

  • Ability to implement prime contract requirements, as needed

  • Exhibits the ability to supervise the performance of procurement personnel at multiple locations

  • Proficiency in areas of subcontracting and procurement

  • Excellent communication skills that are consistent, effective and efficient both written and oral communication and the ability to exercise sound judgment and effective listening skills

  • Travel as needed within the region

  • Due to the nature of this work, U.S. citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to prepare and implement procurement plans, staffing plans and procedures

  • Advanced skills in the use of critical path schedules and market trends to establish goals and staffing plans

  • Delegation skills in assigning tasks to the procurement personnel and ensuring conformance to budget and schedule

  • Ability to analyze supplier information to assess cost and schedule risk and develop actions to manage/reduce the risk

  • Possess an advanced knowledge of construction means, methods and sequences

  • Ability to prepare prime contract flow-downs

  • Ability to provide supplier review and exceptions to terms and conditions

  • Skills necessary to develop strategies to resolve supplier disputes/claims and the ability to work with management to resolve them

  • Ability to analyze project control reports relative to staff productivity and earned value, and takes appropriate action
