Job Summary

Aecom are recruiting for a Digital Transformation Consultant to be based in our London, Aldgate office.

Our digital transformation programme sets digital strategy for AECOM and promotes adoption of transformative digital approaches and tools across the business. We develop and drive adoption of transformational solutions and processes that enable our teams to deliver work for our clients faster, smarter and better. The program is run by a small central team that coordinates and harnesses efforts across all operating groups.

The role will be an essential part of the team and provide the opportunity to take on significant responsibility and help drive the program forward. The work will be varied, and responsibilities will include helping to run the PMO, evaluating and tracking productivity improvements created by digital solutions, and working directly on project test cases where digital tools are piloted and assessed. The role will allow you to put your innovative thinking, technical excellence and business skills into high gear.

You will work with peers from around the world to drive continuous improvement and innovation in our digital delivery systems and processes. The role offers significant exposure to all parts of AECOM business, the opportunity to play a key role in large scale business change program, and a chance to be at the forefront of our digital journey.

Job duties

Due to the variety of initiatives we are involved in to drive transformation across the business, there is a breadth of work in which you can be involved, which often can include:

Helping define the digital strategy and promoting the adoption of transformative approaches and tools across the organization

  • Monitoring overall digital industry and technology trends

  • Contributing to communications and marketing programme to complement the progress made in digital adoption: both internally and externally

  • Coordinating and supporting the Digital Healthy Start programme that systematically provides digital support to company’s priority bids and projects

  • Evaluating and tracking productivity improvements created by adopted digital solutions

  • Connecting our expertise and establishing strong working relationships with other internal teams globally

Minimum Requirements

Essential minimum requirements

  • An accredited Bachelor’s degree (2:1 above) in design or business-related field

  • Demonstrable experience in the application of digital technologies including:

  • The use of digital libraries to accelerate design

  • The application of machine learning in the detection of design anomalies

  • Selection of an appropriate digital technologies stack for different project types

  • The use of Synchro and other BIM-based 4D planning tools

  • The application of Geographical Information Systems in design and asset management

  • The use of drones and other remote scanning technologies

  • The application of Design for Manufacture and Assembly for buildings and infrastructure

  • The principles of construction 3D printing

  • An understanding of the state of the art of robotics in construction

  • The application of virtual and augmented reality in design, construction and asset management including for stakeholder engagement

  • An awareness of the state of the art of predictive and preventative maintenance in the infrastructure sector.

  • Direct experience and track record in change management in the areas in design or engineering consultancy

  • Demonstrable experience of working within a global organization

Preferred Qualifications

Desirable skills required.

  • Experience and knowledge of digital technologies in the AEC industry

  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Excel & GIS

  • Strong graphic skills including the Adobe Creative Suite and PowerPoint

  • Ability to work effectively within a collaborative global team environment but also independently when required,

  • Adapts communications style to get the best outcome

  • Capable of researching and analysing complex information, and drawing out the necessary conclusions and implications

  • Able to communicate findings in a clear, concise and logical manner – in written and verbal formats

  • Pro-active, enthusiastic, hard-working and driven – reliable, on-time delivery, with infectious drive to encourage others to do the same

  • Interested in digital technologies generally and how they can drive growth and productivity improvements

  • Knowledge of foreign languages preferred
