Position Title Stakeholder Engagement Consultant

The Stakeholder Engagement Service team is looking to recruit a consultant to support and deliver stakeholder engagement and consultation activity on a range of projects across the United Kingdom. The role will be based in London.
This role will initially encompass activities across two key areas:
assisting with the management and delivery of a range of stakeholder engagement projects, with a focus on pre-application consultation for infrastructure development projects; and
assisting with the growth of stakeholder engagement service capabilities across AECOM, with an initial focus on providing advice and support to teams across the UK working on infrastructure and other forms of development projects.
There will also be a need to building relationships with key contacts across AECOM’s wider business to identify and develop opportunities for co-operation specifically with the transportation, water and power sectors amongst others.
The team currently comes from a wide range of backgrounds. However, the ideal candidate will have direct stakeholder engagement and consultation experience on infrastructure or development projects, ideally in a consultant or agency role.
The Stakeholder Engagement Services team manages and delivers consultation, communications and stakeholder engagement on a range of high profile projects across the UK. This includes major road, rail, energy, waste, residential and mixed used development projects. The majority of the team’s work revolves around stakeholder engagement and consultation that takes place during the consenting or construction phase of a project. The team is growing rapidly and the successful candidate would join the team of 13 working in four AECOM offices across England.
The role will be based in London, but a willingness to travel to other AECOM and client offices to work on projects; build relationships and identify opportunities will be required. Some home working to maximise work efficiency and reduce time lost to travel could be included in the working arrangements.
The role will report directly to one of the senior members of the stakeholder engagement team. There will also be a need to report to other AECOM team members on specific projects

The person undertaking this role will be responsible for:
day-to-day delivery of stakeholder engagement services on a range of projects;
support provision of stakeholder engagement services to projects being managed by other sectors of the AECOM business;
support in identifying new business opportunities for the provision of stakeholder engagement services and associated proposal development;
support in the ongoing proactive promotion of the AECOM stakeholder engagement service to both internal and external target audiences; and
ability to work collaboratively and iteratively within a multi-disciplinary design team.
At least two years’ experience of delivering stakeholder engagement, community consultation and statutory consultation for development projects;
Experience of working in industry sectors relevant to AECOM’s business (eg energy, water, transport, residential development, commercial development etc);
Passionate about delivering effective communications;
High standard of personal communication skills and confidence to engage with people in different sector disciplines, present to peers and clients, and communicate with statutory and community stakeholders;
Knowledge of UK planning and environmental policy developments related to stakeholder participation and engagement would be an advantage; and
Willingness to travel and work flexibly.
Minimum qualification is a degree, with a preference for one of the following subjects, Geography, History, Politics, English or equivalent.
