Job Summary

Aecom are currently recruiting for a Principal Structural Engineer to join our London offices based in Aldgate Tower. This particular opportunity has arisen in our Building & Places Business Unit which focusses on projects within the Built Environment with a specific focus on Commercial projects.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced structural engineer with a proven track record in project delivery and team development.

We have recently moved to a brand new office space in the newly built Aldgate Tower which is a short walk from Liverpool Street or Fenchurch Street stations, as well as being a central point from multiple tube lines.

This newly built office space holds around 800 technical Engineering staff from various sectors including Transport, Power, Energy, Bridges and Buildings. The Buildings team consists of around 400 Engineers who work large scale construction projects and focus on projects specialisms in London and across the world. Some of the sectors we specialise in are; stadia, major commercial build and fit out projects, large mixed used developments and historical/listed Buildings. This is a great opportunity to play a significant part on future construction projects across London, and also across worldwide locations.

Job Requirements:

Duties of the Principal Structural Engineer role include;

  • Effectively control commercial, managerial and technical aspects of projects or parts thereof for which you are responsible.

  • Sourcing opportunities and preparing fee proposals for submission to client, including resources and programme.

  • Leading a team of engineers and technicians designing building infrastructure schemes.

  • Undertaking structural engineering projects, performing analyses and calculations as appropriate.

  • Supervising work, ensuring that it is carried out to the appropriate technical standard and that it is managed to programme and budget

Minimum Requirements

  • Ability to deliver design solutions, assessment calculations, lead teams and successfully manage projects.

  • A solid track record of having worked on a variety of structures projects, possibly as project leader on some, with experience of dealing directly with clients.

  • A highly motivated individual with excellent communication skills.

  • Knowledge and experience of the local London Marketplace

Preferred Qualifications

  • A graduate in Structural Engineering or equivalent with experience of Structural Engineering in directly relevant fields.

  • Must be degree qualified in a relevant discipline.

  • Must be Chartered (CEng), ideally with the IStructE.
