We have an opening for a Records Management Group Leader. You will be responsible for leading, planning, monitoring, and providing technical guidance on activities pertaining to Business Process Continuous Improvement initiatives, strategies, and data and statistical models required to support business units. This position will be in the Technical Information Department (TID).

Essential Duties

  • Serve as Subject Area Manager (SAM) for the Institutional Information Management and Records processes and procedures. Develop and implement review and release guidance, consultation services, and collaborate with Department of Energy regulations for the Institutional programmatic customers.

  • Develop and implement strategies for addressing process improvement initiatives that impact major areas of the Laboratory including the roll-out of electronic records management Lab wide and work-flow oriented Information Management (IM) processes within Enterprise Content Management (ECM) and involve significant integration among functional areas; establishes measures for process alignment among organizational business units.

  • Develop and deliver formal proposals for the implementation of operational changes to improve information and processing systems and serve as the primary contact for management for critical change initiatives.

  • Manage the day-to-day activities of multidisciplinary teams of records management professionals assigned to work groups and assign projects/work, evaluate and measure progress, and ensure that schedules are met with the highest quality work products.

  • Establish quality standards for a variety of records management services.

  • Plan long-term project activities, identify and assign tasks, and set standards for both quality and quantity of work.

  • Plan, conduct and direct the analysis and design of complex business/scientific processes for multiple change initiatives across organization including transition to new records management application and upgrades to the IM system.

  • Develop, mentor and coach activities to ensure career development and promote technical excellence among all records management and information management personnel.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements


-Bachelor’s Degree in English, communications, journalism, business engineering or a scientific area, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.

  • Extensive experience coordinating multiple work activities and multi-faceted internal processes for an operation/customer service area and experience leading administrative projects.

  • Significant experience establishing and managing an institutional Records Management Function.

  • Strong organizational decision-making and analytical skills.

  • Supervisory experience leading, managing or coaching a diverse group of non-exempt and exempt level staff and ability to prioritize and set work and career objectives for self and others.

  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of laws and regulations related to document control and information management.

  • Knowledge of National Archives and Records Administration (NARA).

  • Advanced communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to use tact, diplomacy, and discretion when dealing with internal and external customers and to effectively work across organizational lines on multiple assignments that vary in priorities and complexity, often with time constraints.

  • Advanced knowledge of computer and database skills including word processing, presentation software, and database programs (e.g., Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).

Q (Position will be cleared to this level).
