Job Summary

Our established Water team in Leeds are currently recruiting for a

Senior Civils Designer / CAD Manager with experience of working on large infrastructure projects.

The AECOM Water team in Leeds is a Centre of Excellence for river engineering, flood management, and drainage design. We deliver services to our clients such as; feasibility studies, scheme designs and detailed designs. We work with key clients in the UK such as the Environment Agency and Yorkshire Water as well as other agencies, local authorities and private developers. We also deliver infrastructure projects in the Middle East.

Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate, review, and manage CAD deliverables for multiple projects to completion within budget

  • Effectively manage own time across multiple projects

  • Undertake CAD duties unsupervised whilst managing other CAD staff

  • Advise and mentor Trainee Technicians

  • Attend and contribute to design team meetings

  • Liaise with sector and regional CAD/BIM leads on best practice, process and technology developments

  • To implement BIM developments and processes for the local office, including training of staff using material provided by the regional BIM lead

  • To implement rigorous control structures for information flow, in association with company wide protocols

  • To work specifically on agreed projects using agreed software and following digital execution plans

  • Comply with quality policies for project delivery

Minimum Requirements

To be successful in this role we would like to hear from candidates with the following;

  • HNC (or equivalent) in Civil/Structural Engineering

  • Extensive experience in the consulting industry including experience delivering Civils Design using CAD

  • Experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D and Navisworks

  • Background within Civil Infrastructure, preferably with experience in the Water industry

  • Experienced user of Autodesk AutoCAD and Autodesk Revit

  • Working knowledge of CIC BIM Protocol, PAS 1192 and related standards

  • Ability to manage small CAD team and balance resourcing requirements to support the design team

  • Ability to support project team with data management and delivery including filing, control of incoming/outgoing documents and scanning

  • Train and guide our Apprentices and Graduate Engineers.

The successful candidate will be experienced in CAD including Civils 3D (or similar) and will have extensive experience on a variety of infrastructure projects. You will have a proven level of experience of delivering projects; to client’s satisfaction, at the appropriate standard, ensuring accuracy of Models and Drawings, and ensuring that the relevant codes and standards are complied with. You will have the ability to develop, review, and manage the work of others. You will also have the technical ability, knowledge and competence to provide guidance and to teach others.
