Purpose and Scope:
Apply principles of accounting to ensure the proper and accurate distribution of cost. Follow established accounting practices. May operate in a supervisory capacity. Work with minimum supervision.
Prepare and analyze specific accounting statements and reports to assist in the preparation of financial statements, tax reports and other internal and external reports as required.
Conduct special accounting studies.
Setup and maintain files within the existing financial software, as well as assist in the testing of financial upgrades.
Verify the proper distribution of charges to specific accounts and contracts.
Prepare monthly and yearly journal entries.
Interface, as needed, with Government, corporate and private auditors.
Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual payroll, vendor or expense reports.
Apply learned knowledge of practices and procedures to deal with issues or research problems that require further definition before resolution.
Maintains the financial accounts, books, and reports in a current acceptable condition. Reviews and audits these records which include, but are not limited to: General ledger and supporting journals of original entry maintained for contract activities and reports; Banks and banking records; company and contract financial reports; and journal vouchers.
Monitors posting and maintenance of financial books and records and assures all supporting documents are adequate and properly filed. Performs continuous audits of financial accounts to maintain account integrity.
Monitors operating cash requirements. Reviews reconciliation of all bank accounts.
Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.
Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
Bachelors degree in Accounting and at least 3 years of job-related experience or equivalent. Good written communication skills; working knowledge of word-processing and integrated software applications; organizational skills and ability to perform detail-oriented work are required. Position may require travel.
Qualify for and maintain a Top Secret Security Clearance / Must be a US Citizen without dual citizenship
Possess a valid state issued driver’s license.
Local candidates preferred
