AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Structural CAD Technologist for employment out of our Kitchener, Ontario office. The successful candidate will work from home due to COVID-19, eventually working out of the office once safe to do so. This is a sourcing requisition meant to build a pipeline of candidates.
Major Responsibilities:
Conduct structural drafting/3D BIM in concrete, steel, masonry, and wood buildings
Field inspection and construction administration
Daily monitoring of the construction work to ensure the design/contract conformities as required
Conduct structural analysis of buildings and structures with little guidance
Daily reporting of work performed by contractor’s labour forces and equipment on site
Monitor and track construction progress and conformity with AECOM design and contract conformance
Assist the Project Manager with the confirmation/discussion with Contractor relating to their monthly progress draws
Attend bi-weekly construction progress meetings and assist the Project Manager with meeting minutes and distributions
Administer the contract documents; provide site instruction, and directives
Assist the Project Manager with contract claims/resolutions
Minimum Requirements
In order to be considered for this position, candidates must have:
At least a High School Diploma
4+ years of relevant experience in civil, bridge, and structural design and construction.
Preferred Qualifications
College Diploma in Civil/Structural Engineering an asset.
Experience doing structural design and drafting of industrial/maintenance facilities, transit, and municipal infrastructures. Knowledge of TTC, Metrolinx, and the GTA, KW municipalities, CAD standards an asset.
Able to develop and advance drawings from conceptual to detailed design stage.
Proficient in 3D Revit/BIM drafting. Familiar with software such as: AutoCAD 2015 or later, AutoDesk Revit Family/BIM Software and Microstation.
Good written and oral communication skills.
Must be able to work outside regular working hours and shift work to assist with project deadlines.
Self-starter with ability to perform work with little to no supervision.
