The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Performs routine fieldwork as a trainee (such as environmental sampling, assisting with calculations and operations, maintenance and inspection of equipment of client site), working under close supervision.

  • Performs routine tasks in support of project staff and handles less complex duties.

  • Working under the direction of AECOM technicians and operators to provide assistance in performing environmental operations, maintenance, and monitoring services at various field locations. Tasks may include:

  • Groundwater and surface water monitoring and sampling.

  • Pumping well inspection, monitoring, and maintenance.

  • Routine operation and maintenance tasks at water treatment facilities.

  • General housekeeping activities.

  • Work will generally be physical in nature and on an as-needed basis.

  • Work will generally be at contaminated sites. All appropriate training and personal protective equipment will be provided.

Note: Primary work location will be in Guelph, Ontario. If required, travel to other locations will be reimbursed at cost.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Able to work outdoors, often in inclement weather conditions, physically able to walk long distances in rugged terrain and carry up to 50 lbs of equipment.

  • Willing to travel within the province/country, including extended travel.

  • Valid and unrestricted driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Diploma in Environmental Technology/Geological Technology or similar.

  • Knowledgeable with Microsoft Word & Microsoft Excel programs and other standard office software and able to compile and interpret field and analytical data.

  • Ability to interact effectively with internal and external clients.

  • Strong team player and leader, able to follow instructions and communicate well with others.

  • Problem solving, excellent attention to detail and a thorough approach to work.

  • Self-motivated and independent work habits.

  • Ability to execute newly learned tasks.

  • Groundwater Monitoring, Drilling, Soil sampling.

  • Focus on Safety.
