AECOM Civil Design Specialist - Municipal in Kitchener, Ontario

Canada - Ontario, Kitchener

Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly talented and hardworking Civil Design Specialist for immediate employment in the Kitchener, Ontario office.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Design for municipal infrastructure using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and MicroStation

  • Working on complex data sets in conjunction with other CAD and GIS technical staff

  • Ensuring overall data quality and integrity

  • Prepare civil design drawings and design calculations

  • Prepare documentation for design projects and reports

  • Undertake quality control procedures

  • Assure that engineering related issues are promptly relayed to the Project Manager for action and follows up to assure timeliness of resolution effort

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering in municipal design + 2 years of related experience or Diploma/ Certificate in a civil discipline area + 4 years of related experience and/ or demonstrated equivalency

  • Minimum 2 years experience with Civil 3D

Preferred Qualifications

  • 4+ years of related experience

  • Technical or Associates degree in Civil Engineering Technology (or equivalent)

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D 2016 and Bentley Microstation V8i

  • Proficient with MS Office Suite

  • Certified or eligible for certification as a C.E.T and a member of the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, contractors and clients

  • Comfortable working in a multi-disciplinary environment

  • Great time management skills

  • Ability to work in field or office conditions, and work and communicate with clients, contractors and other AECOM staff.

  • Previous experience, including construction inspection experience and design experience in surface grading, water and sewer pipe networks and detail design
