Having 60+ continuous years of nuclear experience, we have executed projects spanning new generation and facility expansions, heavy component replacement (in our SGT JV with Areva), modifications for beyond-design-basis regulation and guidelines, operating plant services, and, in emergencies, the restoration of operations. Our client base covers the industry ‒ regulated/unregulated power generators, NSSS suppliers, including SMRs, and developers of uranium enrichment facilities.
AECOM is seeking a Performance Improvement Manager for our nuclear project, to be based in our Kincardine, ON location. An ideal candidate will be local or willing to relocate to the area.
The Performance Manager reports to the Project Director for their assigned project. The Performance Manager will establish and/or maintain the overall strategy and process for analyzing project performance in all areas, analyzing applicable OPEX and ultimately, implementing initiatives within the project to improve Safety, Quality, Schedule and Cost.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Ensure prior relevant OPEX has been thoroughly considered in the development of all elements of the project potentially impacting on safety, critical path performance, product quality, dose minimization and cost.
Establish processes and systems for collection of detailed data on time and dose performance for planned and unplanned activities in a systematic, non-obtrusive manner to support incremental efficiency gains for following work or plan adjustments for next unit work.
Conduct assessments on tooling and procedures through the design and testing phase to identify any continuing performance or risk issues that may need to be mitigated through CWP development or accepted going into the execution work.
Using OPEX data collected during the outage, conduct assessments on the performance of tooling, procedures and workers for planned work during the execution phase. Identify opportunities for improvement in follow on work in the same outage and for step improvements in subsequent units.
Conduct assessments of proposed changes to tooling or procedures using fact based OPEX including test data and in consideration of knock on effects to subsequent logic, interfaces, infrastructure and supporting project resources (training etc).
Maintain a direct relationship with counterparts at other projects for sharing of relevant OPEX data. Conduct post series review meetings and capture experience in OPEX reports. Provide detailed and statistically based reports on time and dose performance of tooling, equipment, procedures and workers.
Establish Standards and Expectations for how we conduct Project Performance across the project.
Ensure the Performance Management programs are fully incorporated into all project management activities.
Provide standardized reporting for Project Performance Improvement.
Ensure responsible areas are staffed by personnel who are trained, qualified and capable of performing duties.
Actively promote a health, safety and environment culture to all levels of the project teams and support Human Performance program management.
Manage the Corrective Action Program to ensure projects meet required standards; Safety, Quality, Schedule, Cost.
Manage relationships with key stakeholders on all nuclear projects, acting as a home office support system for project performance assigned resources on projects.
Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Business or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience.
10 years project management, technical (Engineering) and leadership experience.
Familiarity with Performance Management programs and processes.
Experience in the Nuclear Industry is an asset.
Due to the nature of work conducted by AECOM, mandated nuclear export controls requirements must be met for employment
