The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Creation of subcontracts and purchase orders

  • Distribution of contracts to subcontractors and vendors

  • Review, tracking and evaluation of comments made to contracts.

  • Collaboration with legal and risk management (insurance) groups regarding modifications to standard contract terms and conditions.

  • Negotiation with subcontractors and vendors to finalize contracts

  • Provide contract-related issue resolution, both internally and externally

  • Overall responsibility for contract management process for AECOM SW Heavy Civil Operations

  • Collaboration with construction group – must be able to meet the construction project needs/requirements with regards to timely execution of contracts. Strong interpersonal skills

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • 10+ years of prior experience as a contracts manager with extensive experience in drafting and negotiating contracts for heavy construction (vertical and/or heavy civil) for public works construction contracts. Background must specifically have contract negotiation and contract management. Primary focus on negotiating contract completion with subcontractors and suppliers. The position will report directly to the Southwest Operations Manager.

  • Knowledge of contract types, terms and legal requirements.

  • Knowledge of law, negotiations, accounting or cost engineering gained through education or experience.

  • Basic computer skills (including familiarity with Microsoft Office software).

  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated organizational skills.

  • Ability to work well with tight deadlines

  • Due to nature of the work U.S. Citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience as a contracts manager (Minimum of 10 years) with experience in negotiation contracts in heavy construction (vertical or heavy civil).

  • Understanding of California law with regards to public contract code, insurance and indemnification

  • Understanding of different agency contract requirements (i.e. Greenbook, Caltrans Standard Specifications, etc.) as well as project specific contract requirements (i.e. Special Provisions)
