Job Summary

This position is in support of the Army Aviation and Missile Support Command, Field Support Directorate, Fleet and Logistical Support Directorate (FLSD), Huntsville Alabama.

Welding metal components together to fabricate or repair products, such as machine parts, ground support equipment (GSE), plant equipment, mobile homes, motors and generators, according to layouts, blueprints or work orders, using brazing and a variety of arc and gas welding equipment. This worker welds metal parts together, using both gas welding or brazing and any combination of arc welding processes, performs related tasks such as thermal cutting and grinding, repairs broken or cracked parts, fills holes and increases size of metal parts, positions and clamps together components of fabricated metal products preparatory to welding.

This worker may locate and repair cracks in industrial engine cylinder heads, using inspection equipment and gas torch, may perform repairs only and be required to pass employer performance tests or standard tests to meet certification standards of governmental agencies or professional and technical associations.

Performs all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Requirements

  1. Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Legal Resident

  2. High school diploma or equivalent training/experience.

  3. Three (3) years experience required.

  4. Will be required to perform welding on aviation parts and equipment.

  5. Must have experience working in a machine shop and performance of machinist duties.

  6. May be required to assist with other duties in the shop as needed.

  7. Aerospace Welding Certification required.

  8. Position may require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance.

  9. Position will require the ability to pass a pre-employment drug-screen and a government background check.

  10. Candidates must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
