AECOM is actively seeking a highly talented and motivated Technical Leader I for immediate employment in the Huntsville, AL office.

The Technical Leader specializes in environmental compliance and permitting, with an emphasis on air permitting, for a current contract with the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) in Huntsville, Alabama. AECOM is a subcontractor to the MDA Technical, Engineering, Advisory and Management Support (TEAMS) Environmental Management contract with offices located on Redstone Arsenal, AL.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Leading teams to solve environmental issues and problems, as well as provide direct supervision and direction to support teams
Responsible for staff management, analysis of existing information, performing field activities, preparing reports and documents, working within interdisciplinary teams, mentoring junior staff, performing work to scope, schedule and budget, and related activities for the MDA
The work may also include environmental site assessments, environmental compliance audits, and Environmental Management System (EMS) program development. However, the emphasis of this position is on environmental compliance and permitting
Managing the office
Master’s degree in civil/chemical/environmental engineering or other closely related engineering field
10+ years of progressively responsible work in providing environmental consulting services to the Department of Defense and other Federal agencies, as well as strong, positive relationships and reputation within this Federal sector and service area(s)
P.E. license is required
The candidate will have worked on and managed small to large Federal environmental projects across an array of geographies, and have demonstrated acumen for project management; scope, schedule, and budget control for these services
The qualified candidate will possess relevant technical subject matter expertise in one or more specific areas of compliance and permitting, with an emphasis on air permitting
Recent experience providing direct supervision to staff, and direction to support teams is required
Ideal candidate will have strong air permitting and environmental site assessment experience
High degree of self-motivation and the ability to work independently with limited supervision, as well as in a collaborative team environment
Demonstrated ability to support Project Managers and mentor junior staff
Excellent communication skills, including both oral and written
Solid report writing and organization skills
Good working knowledge of word-processing and integrated software applications, including MS Word, Excel, and Power Point
Organizational management skills and ability to perform detail-oriented work are required
Position requires field work that could include heavy lifting and candidate must be able to travel
Self-motivated, driven, and hard working
Ability to manage office and lead AECOM team members
Experience working in a fast-paced consulting environment
Strong experience with environmental compliance and permitting, including ability to work on complex projects, within interdisciplinary teams, and balance a demanding workload, as well as interface with Clients
Familiar with Federal, State and Local environmental laws and regulations. Familiarization with DoD OCONUS requirements a plus
Excellent and relevant references.
Must posses a US Secret-level Security Clearance
Due to the nature of this work, U.S. citizenship is required
Must possess a valid driver’s license
15+ years of experience preferred
Prior military or Federal consulting experience is preferred
NEPA experience is a plus
Experience with air permitting at Federal, State, and local levels
