AECOM Environmental Scientist / Engineer in Huntsville, Alabama

AECOM is actively seeking an Environmental Scientist/Engineer specializing in National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documentation, environmental resource compliance and/or permitting for a current contract with the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) in Huntsville, Alabama. AECOM is a subcontractor to the MDA Technical, Engineering, Advisory and Management Support (TEAMS) Environmental Management contract with offices located on Redstone Arsenal, AL.
The qualified candidate will be able to demonstrate 5 + years of progressively responsible work in providing environmental consulting services to the Department of Defense (DoD) and other Federal agencies, as well as strong, positive relationships and reputation within this Federal sector and service area(s). The candidate will have worked on and managed small to large Federal environmental projects across an array of geographies, and have demonstrated acumen for project management; scope, schedule, and budget control for these services. The qualified candidate will possess relevant technical subject matter expertise in one or more specific areas of environmental compliance, planning and permitting.
The ideal candidate selected for this position must be able to work in a team environment to solve environmental issues and problems. Responsibilities will include analysis of existing information, performing field activities, preparing reports and documents, working within interdisciplinary teams, mentoring junior staff, performing work to scope, schedule and budget, and related activities for the MDA. As such, strong writing, analytical, word processing, and computer skills are required. The work may include environmental assessments, environmental resource analyses, environmental compliance audits, and/or Environmental Management System (EMS) program administration. However, the emphasis of this position is on NEPA document preparation and compliance, and environmental resources evaluation and compliance.
Master’s degree in biology, ecology, natural resources, wetlands management, cultural resources, archaeology, geology, planning, environmental science, environmental/chemical/civil engineering,or an earth science-related field.
Minimum of 5 years F/T work experience in related field, preferably NEPA document preparation, and environmental resource anaylses, compliance, and/or permitting for the DoD or other Federal clients.
Ideal candidate will have strong NEPA, environmental assessment, biological assessment, National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) Section 106 compliance, and/or environmental resource compliance experience.
Prior military or Federal consulting experience is preferred.
Qualified applicants must be a US citizen and eligible for a US Secret-level Security Clearance.
High degree of self-motivation and the ability to work independently with limited supervision, as well as in a collaborative team environment.
Excellent communication skills, including both oral and written.
Solid report writing and organization skills.
Good working knowledge of word-processing and integrated software applications, including MS Word, Excel, and Power Point.
Organizational management skills and ability to perform detail-oriented work are required.
Position requires field work and candidate must be able to travel.
Self-motivated, driven, and hard working.
Experience working in a fast-paced consulting environment.
Strong experience with and ability to work on complex projects, within interdisciplinary teams, and balance a demanding workload, as well as interface with Clients.
Familiar with Federal, State and Local environmental laws and regulations.
Excellent and relevant references.
Active Secret or Top Secret security clearance
Excellent and advanced writing skills
10+years industry experience
Professional certification(s) (e.g., PE, RPA, AICP, CEP, PMP, PG CWB, PWS, etc.).
