Job Summary

The Water Business of AECOM is actively seeking a Senior Professional Engineer - Senior Dams Engineer, who is an expert in dams, levees and water resources engineering, for immediate employment in one of our offices located in Texas. This individual should be a creative, highly talented engineer who will provide business development leadership and support along with technical and management guidance for a group of professionals in a team setting; the technical emphasis of the group is design / engineering of dams, levees, flood control, and other water resources projects.

The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established dams and levee-oriented career, with strong client contacts and relationships, especially among local and Federal dam/levee clients across Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Mississippi.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Leadership and/or participation in business development activities

  • Professional development of team personnel

  • Developing and nurturing the strategic direction of the team

  • Acts as primary point of contact with clients and has full responsibility for project delivery

  • Plans, directs, and supervises operations included in a large, complex project or several moderately sized projects

  • Performs independent technical reviews of engineering reports and designs

  • May be responsible for Project teams that include 10 or more members often representing multiple business lines

  • Provide leadership in the areas of design, analysis, and construction of various dam and levee projects

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from ABET-accredited institution

  • 13+ years of experience in the evaluation, planning, design and construction of dams/levees and other water resource facilities, including project analysis, feasibility and budgeting

  • Professional Engineering License or the ability to obtain licensure within 6 months of hire

  • Must have experience in client service and business development

  • Must have strong technical progression within engineering for federal and local government contracts, as well as civil clients within the private sector

  • Must have experience in the analysis, design, and construction of dams, levees and other flood control structures

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Engineering

  • 20+ years of progressive experience within the water infrastructure field

  • Personnel management, mentoring, leadership skills

  • Leadership experience in proposal preparation

  • Strong client contacts and relationships, especially among dam/levee clients, including federal agencies, within Texas and the surrounding states
