AECOM Project Controls Manager in Houston, Texas

Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a highly talented Project Controls Manager for our Houston, TX location. AECOM is proud to provide our employees with exciting and challenging projects.

Project Controls is responsible for the technical support of the project controls function on projects and proposals. Project Controls provides the tools and systems necessary to effectively and proactively manage, control, and report on cost and schedule for concurrent projects throughout the organization.

  • Provides objective analysis and sound judgement with application of principles and techniques to evaluate and report project performance from concept study to construction & startup including practical assessment of schedule completion and expected final cost.

  • Competencies include setup of work breakdown structure, establishing levels of control and detail, planning and scheduling, cost analysis and forecasting, progress measurement, earned value performance, risk analysis and change control.

  • Responsible for managing, controlling, forecasting and reporting cost and schedule performance for projects throughout the organization.

  • Services include setting up and managing project controls systems (including setup of work breakdown structure), capturing to-date progress and expenditure data, analyzing to-date performance data, forecasting at-completion performance data (EAC costs, hours), analyzing project risks (contingency management), managing change and incorporating scope variations into schedule and cost deliverables, and preparing associated reports.

  • Works with project managers to coordinate and gather data for reports.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Services include planning, cost and schedule metrics and tools, collecting performance data (installed quantities, expended labor hours, and other progress measurements for direct hire and subcontract work), tracking data (daily cost compilation and monitoring), analyzing (earned value, productivity and risk analysis), and reporting.

  • Manages and administers the project information system (PMIS) utilized on typical programs to contain data, files, correspondence and processes used on major programs.

  • Tracks all changes or potential changes to the project scope, and supports estimates of cost changes and schedule impact.

  • Integrates cost and schedule data and reporting with the company’s accounting and management information systems to facilitate meeting company performance and financial goals.

  • May also support change control management, document control management, and critical path method network analysis.

  • Updates control and tracking systems including purchase orders, change order log, subcontract logs, etc.

  • Possesses strong computer skills with a developing knowledge of company cornerstone applications.

  • Gathers and inputs data in support of schedule and cost control programs.

  • Performs data input function for cornerstone applications.

  • Reviews expenditures for coding accuracy.

  • Updates commitment log for purchase orders and subcontracts.

  • Tracks insurance certificates for all project participants.

  • Assists in the development of information to support the trending and forecasting processes.

  • Assists with gathering information from the accounting system for tracking actual cost information.

  • Exposure to the procurement process and the relationship to Project Controls responsibility.

  • Supports project change order process and gains insight to the rationale and requirements concerning its importance.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor of Arts/Science in Construction Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field + 2 years of related experience OR Associate of Arts/Science in a related field + 4 years of related experience with progressively increasing responsibilities related to project controls OR demonstrated equivalent of experience and education

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook)

  • Working knowledge of Project Management Information Systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • Higher Education and/or K-12 project experience
