Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a highly talented Instrumentation and Control Supervising Discipline Engineer III or IV for upcoming projects in our Houston, Texas office, anticipated for July 2018.

Position Description or Typical Responsibilities:

The Instrumentation and Control Supervising Discipline Engineer is responsible for managing the electrical discipline engineering team to meet client and project requirements regarding scope, scheduling and budgets.

  • Leads various size groups of engineers, designers, or specialists.

  • Intermediate to advanced level of engineering understanding within the electrical discipline.

  • Provides support for proposals and understands the business development process.

  • Familiar with discipline tools and understands company cornerstone applications.

  • Familiar with the work sequence, general content and the methods used to generate specifications for the purchase of material, equipment, systems, services or construction within the electrical discipline.

  • Fully versed with the process of preparing and checking of calculations within the electrical discipline.

  • Understands the process of collecting data and information regarding technical and economic factors relating to a specific subject within the discipline.

  • Fully understands the use of requisitions and the role of materials management.

  • Has basic knowledge of discipline manpower loading.

  • Performs material take-off's for the discipline.

  • Understands a discipline's material costs.

  • Fully understands the planning and scheduling of engineering tasks.

  • Understands the project change control process.

  • Understands the discipline's equipment and material lists.

  • Maintains positive working relationships with peer leaders.

  • Builds productive relationships with organizations within and external to engineering.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum Requirements for an Instrumentation and Control Supervising Discipline Engineer III:

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering or other appropriate discipline, such as chemical or mechanical engineering, from a 4-year accredited university.

Experience:

  • 6 years of experience with the engineering and design of complex instrumentation and control systems for Oil & Gas onshore plant design projects.

  • Professional Engineering License required.

  • Previous experience leading a team of engineers, designers and/or specialists.

  • Experience/proficiency in Lead I&C Engineering roles, including, but not limited to following duties:

  • Ability as self-starter to assume overall discipline responsibility of engineering and design of project(s).

  • Strict adherence to/preparation of schedule and budget.

  • Understanding of management of change process, including recognition and identification of scope changes during project life cycle.

  • Support of Engineering and Design effort hour estimates for projects and assessment of schedule/budget impact of changes.

  • Previous experience providing project proposal support.

  • Previous experience preparing or assisting with the preparation of project scope development.

  • Demonstrated Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook , Word and Excel programs.

Minimum Requirements for an Electrical Supervising Discipline Engineer IV:

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering or other appropriate discipline, such as chemical or mechanical engineering from a 4-year accredited university.

Experience:

  • 8 years of experience with the engineering and design of complex instrumentation and control systems for Oil & Gas onshore plant design projects.

  • Professional Engineering License required.

  • Previous experience leading a team of engineers, designers and/or specialists.

  • Experience/proficiency in Lead I&C Engineering roles, including, but not limited to following duties:

  • Ability as self-starter to assume overall discipline responsibility of engineering and design of project(s).

  • Strict adherence to/preparation of schedule and budget.

  • Understanding of management of change process, including recognition and identification of scope changes during project life cycle.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Development of control system configuration on multiple software and manufacturer projects platforms.

  • Previous oversight of I&C Commissioning/startup planning.

  • Previous Project Lead / Engineer Experience.

  • Programming/configuration proficiency of computer based automated control systems.
