Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a creative, highly talented Staff Estimator to support the Global Oil & Gas Business. This position can be based in either Denver, Colorado; Houston, Texas; or New Orleans, Louisiana.

The successful candidate will possess the demonstrated skills and experience necessary to:

  • Efficiently deliver timely, responsive and responsible estimates that are consistent, objectively prepared and reliably accurate for their intended purpose. The end product being a “priced execution plan”.

  • Support multiple estimates simultaneously by implementing a thorough and methodical estimating process.

  • Work efficiently and effectively with project management and other engineering discipline leads to execute project work on schedule and within budget.

  • Support and present estimates to internal management and clients to ensure alignment on the estimate basis, execution plan, estimated cost, and risk/contingency in evaluation.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Individual incumbents may be responsible for cross discipline application or may concentrate in one or more of the Estimating disciplines including Civil/Structural, Mechanical/Piping, and Architectural.

  • Prepares or assists in the preparation of order of magnitude, preliminary, definitive, change orders and check estimates using appropriate methods and techniques.

  • Prepares equipment and material take-off.

  • Utilizes the appropriate company and industry historical data for costing estimates.

  • Prepares or assists in the preparation of project and discipline estimate summaries.

  • Prepares or assists in the preparation of the Basis of Estimate.

  • Participates in estimate reviews.

  • Establishes and maintains cost databases and product line specific parametric analysis tools.

  • Advanced level incumbents demonstrate soft skill attributes such as leadership, conflict resolution, team building and mentoring.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum Requirements for an Estimator IV:

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Administration or Bachelor's Degree in a related field or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Experience:

  • 6 years estimating experience in the engineering and/or construction industry supporting industrial construction projects.

  • Strong understanding of project planning and scheduling.

  • Strong understanding of indirect costs such as construction management, field staff, temporary construction facilities, construction equipment, etc.

  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

  • Proficient knowledge using estimating software such as WinEstimator and Aspen Capital Cost Estimator or similar estimating tool.

Minimum Requirements for an Estimator V:

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Administration or Bachelor's Degree in Science in a related field or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Experience:

  • 8 years estimating experience in the engineering and/or construction industry supporting industrial construction projects.

  • Strong understanding of project planning and scheduling.

  • Strong understanding of indirect costs such as construction management, field staff, temporary construction facilities, construction equipment, etc.

  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

  • Proficient knowledge using estimating software such as WinEstimator and Aspen Capital Cost Estimator or similar estimating tool.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering, construction, or related field.

  • Previous experience as an estimator for an EPC industrial company and/or an owner of Oil & Gas facility.

  • Experience with mechanical piping systems and civil/structural for Oil & Gas industrial projects is desired.

  • Previous experience preparing estimates during Pre FEED, FEED and Detail design including knowledge of required engineering deliverables and estimating methodologies at each stage of design.

  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

  • Proficient knowledge of using Estimating software (WinEstimator, Aspen Capital Cost Estimator, HCSS Heavy Bid, or related estimating software experience is preferred).
