Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a creative, highly talented Estimator to support the growing needs of the US Oil & Gas business. This position can be based in our office locations in either Denver, Colorado; Houston, Texas or New Orleans, Louisiana.

Typical Responsibilities:

  • Works with the Company estimating systems and processes.

  • Applies estimating terminology, measures, concepts and principles.

  • Recognizes how various processes/project actions and assumptions may impact the project estimates and begin to assist in quantifying the impact.

Technical Skills

  • Prepares bid packages, conceptual estimates and analysis of subcontractor bids, etc. for projects.

  • Performs duties with some complexity under general supervision.

  • Expected to assist in the preparation of larger and more complex estimating assignments including the Estimate Plan.

  • Understands the AECOM Division costing structure (overheads, G&A, insurance, etc.)

  • Develops wage rate build-ups.

  • Reads and interprets drawings and specifications.

  • Develops detailed material take-offs for estimate development and field procurement of bulk materials.

  • Develops cash flow schedules and estimates.

Minimum Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Administration or Bachelor's Degree in Science in Construction Management, Engineering, Business or related field or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

Experience:

  • 4 years estimating experience related to the engineering or construction industry

  • Strong understanding of planning and scheduling and cost structure such as overheads, G&A and insurances.

  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications for an Estimator III:

  • Previous experience supporting industrial construction projects

  • Previous experience as an estimator for an EPC company and/or an owner of Oil & Gas facility.

  • Experience with mechanical and piping systems for Oil & Gas industrial projects is desired..

  • Previous experience preparing estimates during Pre FEED, FEED, and Detail design including knowledge of required engineering deliverable and estimating methodologies at each stage of design

  • Proficient knowledge of using Estimating specific software’s (WinEstimator and Aspen Capital Cost Estimator experience is preferred).

  • Depending on the selected candidate's base location, this position could initially require significant time in Denver and/or Houston for training and mentoring purposes.
