Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a

Network Engineer to provide network and systems engineering support to the Cyber War Innovation Center (CWIC) at

Camp H.M. Smith, Hawaii.

This is a contingent position.

The CWIC conducts cyber testing, training and experimentation for U.S. Indo-Pacific Command.

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Designing, building, testing, deploying, and maintaining secure, closed-network environments and executing technical and administrative requirements necessary to interconnect the closed network environments to other cyber ranges and DOD networks.

  2. Provide research and implementation of system-wide network solutions/capabilities/enhancements to support CWIC mission goals and objectives; Evaluate and monitor health and performance of the network including hardware and software management

  3. Assist with development and execution of test plans and supporting documentation of all network configuration upgrades, additions or revisions for customer approval before implementation.

  4. Evaluate and recommend changes and/or technology upgrades to address performance, standardization and industry best practices.

  5. Receive, catalog, and maintain accountability for network equipment and software.

  6. Analyze user’s requirements, concept of operations documents, and high level system architectures to develop network requirements specifications.

  7. Guide users in formulating requirements, advises alternative approaches, and conducts feasibility studies.

  8. Analyze network requirements and capacity and advise on design, development and integration activities.

  9. Incorporate new network plans, designs and systems into ongoing operations.

Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Requirements

  • Must have a Bachelor's degree with a minimum of ten (10) years of job-related experience.

  • Bachelor's degree and required years of experience may be substituted with the following equivalents:

  • Associate’s degree plus fourteen (14) years of job-related experience;

  • High School diploma plus eighteen (18) years of job-related experience;

  • Five (5) years’ experience with systems engineering methodologies.

  • Five (5) years’ experience with data networking--including routing, switching, VLANs, and physical cable plants/wiring.

  • Three (3) years’ experience with network management and monitoring systems.

  • Three (3) years’ experience configuring and administering cybersecurity devices and software (i.e. firewalls, network and host IDS/IPS, and VPN appliances).

  • Two (2) years’ experience applying Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).

  • Two (2) years’ experience deploying and managing commercial and government encryption.

  • Must have a DOD 8570 IAT Level II or higher certification.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.

  • Must have an active Secret clearance (and be able to obtain a Top Secret clearance within 6 months of employment).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree.

  • Networks – CISCO and Juniper switching infrastructures.

  • Virtualization – Vmware, Kernel Virtual Manager.

  • Operating Systems - Windows 7/10, Win Server 2012/2016, Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

  • Security Appliances/VMs – CISCO ASA, Juniper SRX, PaloAlto, LogRhythm, Elastic Stack, Splunk.

  • Packet Capture/Traffic Generation - BreakingPoint, TCP Replay, WireShark.

Preferred Certifications:

  • Cisco Certified Network Associate/Profession (CCNA/CCNP).

  • Juniper Networks Certified Internet Associate – Juniper Network Operating System (JNCIA-Junos).
