Job Summary

AECOM is currently seeking a Project Manager for immediate employment in our Project Management Organization (PMO). The focus of this PMO group is assessment and remediation of downstream oil and gas sites under fixed price and/or performance based contracts. The Project Manager will be responsible to manage a group of downstream oil and gas remediation projects at former gas stations and retail facilities. This position will integrate into a team of environmental engineers, scientists and field technicians to provide leadership on an established program.

This role can be based out of our Markham, Mississauga, or Guelph offices.

The appropriately qualified candidate will provide outstanding Project Management skills with a focus on scheduling, monitoring, tracking and controlling and will develop guide and mentor less experienced staff. The work requires technical knowledge of the areas of hydrogeology, soil sciences, remediation techniques, provincial contaminated sites regulations and human health/ecological risk assessments. The appropriately qualified candidate will be a key member and will report to the PMO Area Lead for Canada East.

Other responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Managing and Coordinating remediation projects with large Oil and Gas Clients

  • Provide leadership and technical expertise in support of ongoing AECOM remediation

  • Assist with developing and mentoring the Canada East team of Engineers, Geologists, Hydrogeologists and/or Scientists

  • Accountability for project performance and compliance with project delivery expectations

  • Demonstrating creativity, foresight, and mature judgment in anticipating and solving both routine and unusual project delivery and technical problems

  • Development and maintenance of schedule for local resources

  • Responsible for compliance with all AECOM project management requirements.

  • Facilitate integration of technical support teams into projects

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science or Engineering Degree

  • 8+ years of relevant professional experience

  • Full understanding of Ontario regulations and CCME guidelines, in particular for remediation in for oil and gas clients.

  • Demonstrated project management and client development experience in the environmental business line

  • Experience coordinating Phase I, II and III Environmental Site Assessments

  • Experience developing and implementing project scheduling, monitoring and tracking systems

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Contract development and contractor management

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills

  • Strong Client management skills

  • Ability to manage time effectively and competing deadlines

  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Project, Excel and Word

  • Can-do, positive attitude and an ability to work in a fast-paced, challenging environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with working on projects for major oil and gas clients

  • Experience with Regulatory Applications & Documentation

  • Experience with Site Inspections, Regulatory and Environmental Compliance, Geological and Hydrogeological Evaluation, Conceptual Site Model development and validation and Risk Assessment

  • Experience in Contract Management/Administration

  • Project Management Professional
