AECOM Environmental Field Assistant in Guelph, Ontario

Our Guelph office is looking for an Environmental Field Assistant to start work immediately, on an on-call basis (work days and times will be determined on an as-needed basis, with an expectation of 40+ hours per week). Working under the direction of AECOM technicians and operators, you will provide assistance in performing environmental operations, maintenance, and monitoring services at various field locations.
Tasks may include:
Groundwater and surface water monitoring and sampling.
Pumping well inspection, monitoring, and maintenance.
Routine operation and maintenance tasks at water treatment facilities.
General housekeeping activities.
Work will generally be physical in nature and on an as-needed basis.
Work will generally be at contaminated sites. All appropriate training and personal protective equipment will be provided.
If required, travel to other locations will be reimbursed at cost.
Effective written and oral communication skills.
Ability to take direction from others and complete assigned tasks.
Ability to operate small power tools and small construction and remediation equipment and follow company safety guidelines.
Ability to complete required health and safety training and demonstrate competency.
Ability to wear and use all levels of personal protective equipment.
Ability to lift up to 20 kg.
Valid driver’s license.
Two + years experience with environmental field work including:
Working in industrial environment.
Familiarity with operations, maintenance, monitoring and remedial activities related to contaminated sites.
Performing operation and maintenance activities and related functions in support of technicians.
Chemical and contaminated cleanup, field construction and demolition are a plus.
40-hour HAZWOPER certificate is a plus
