AECOM Senior Structural Engineer - Dams in Greenwood Village, Colorado

Job Summary

The Water Business Line of AECOM is actively seeking a Senior Professional Structural Engineer, an expert in the dams engineering field, for immediate employment in the Greenwood Village, CO office. This individual will be a creative, highly talented engineer who will provide technical and project management guidance for a group of design professionals in a team setting; the technical emphasis of the group is design and assessment of dams, including concrete gravity and arch dam structures. The individual may also provide business development leadership and support to AECOM regional water business line. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established dams-oriented career, with a technical focus on structural engineering.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Plans, directs, and supervises operations included in a large, complex project or several moderately sized projects with greater risk and complexity, and significant financial impact

  • Resolves complex issues

  • Performs independent technical reviews of engineering reports and designs

  • Acts as primary point of contact with client and has full responsibility for project delivery

  • Work with clients to provide long-term solutions

  • Provide technical leadership in the areas of design, analysis, and construction of various dams projects

  • Work in a senior role as a technical leader with a close-knit team of design professionals where effective communication is an important part of the job

  • Leadership and/or participation in business development activities

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from ABET-accredited institution

  • 8+ years of experience in the evaluation, planning, design and construction of dams and related facilities, including project analysis, feasibility and budgeting

  • Professional Engineering License required or the ability to obtain within short period of time

  • Must have strong technical progression within structural engineering for government contracts, as well as private sector clients

  • Appropriately experienced candidates will have acted as a technical leader within the area of structural engineering for water resource and dam remediation projects.

  • Must have experience in the analysis, design, and construction of concrete dams

  • Must have experience in client service and business development activities

  • Must possess a valid driver's license

  • Ability to support marketing effort in pursuing work on dams and related water infrastructure projects.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Civil Engineering

  • 15+ years of progressive experience within the water infrastructure field

  • Experience in the design and construction, including rehabilitation or new construction, of more than 2 concrete dams over 100-ft high

  • Personnel management, mentoring, leadership skills

  • Demonstrated business development acumen and experience

  • Strong client contacts and relationships, especially among dams clients
