AECOM Senior Civil Designer - Water Resources, Dams, Mining in Greenwood Village, Colorado

Job Summary

AECOM’s Water Business Unit is seeking a

Senior Civil Designer for immediate employment in the Greenwood Village, Colorado (Denver) office. This is a technical role working with engineers and project managers on a variety of projects within Dams, Water Resources, and Mining markets.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

Civil/Site - Site development, access roads, channels, jurisdictional and non-jurisdictional dams, slope stabilization, retaining walls, detention ponds, surface drainage, and stream restoration.

Mining - Tailing storage facilities, embankments, seepage ponds, utility corridors, waste rock piles, buttresses, ring dikes, underdrains, closure plans, and instrumentation and monitoring.

Dams – Earthfill, rockfill, and asphalt core embankments, conventional concrete and RCC embankments, spillways, outlet works, and foundations and drains.

  • Extensive experience with Civil 3D through release 2019.

  • Experience with other Autodesk software a plus including NavisWorks, InfraWorks, Raster Design, Storm and Sanitary Analysis, Vehicle Tracking, ReCap, Revit, 3DS Max, and Inventor.

  • Experience developing and modifying Civil 3D styles.

  • Experience with other CAD, survey, GIS, and design software a plus, including Microstation, GeoPak, Carlson, ArcMap, Global Mapper, and Google Earth.

  • Experience with project collaboration software a plus, including BIM 360, Autodesk Vault, and ProjectWise.

  • Experience utilizing Excel to perform calculations, translations, and organizing data.

  • Emphasis on civil/site, channel, and simple roadway grading utilizing breaklines, grading objects, and corridors.

  • Take simple sketches and design criteria to develop designs.

  • Calculating earthwork quantities utilizing multiple methods.

  • Calculating pond storage volumes utilizing multiple methods.

  • Processing a variety of data sources to build existing base surfaces including LiDAR, survey points, breaklines, DEMs, and contours.

  • Managing complex designs through the life cycle of a project from feasibility level designs to final design and construction.

  • Managing both large and small plan sets and coordinating with both engineering staff and junior design and drafting staff.

  • Presenting designs in multiple formats to both internal staff and clients to convey design intent.

  • Data management of survey, client data, and subcontractor designs.

  • Meeting with project teams regularly to coordinate designs.

  • Meeting with clients for project kickoff, ongoing design review, and project close out.

  • Field and survey experience a plus.

Minimum Requirements

BA/BS + 4 YORE or AA/AS (US) + 6 YORE or Diploma/Certificate (Canada) + 6 YORE or HS/GED + 8 YORE

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience
