AECOM Executive Director - Major Pursuits in Greenwood Village, Colorado

Job Summary

The Executive Director role will focus on providing executive-level leadership and strategic direction. This key position is designed to develop market share and build top-line revenue for AECOM.

In addition to leading the initiatives that drive response, this role requires extensive relationship-building skills and strategies that work both within and beyond the Business Line, including developing relationships with leaders that span the geographies and business lines.

The Executive Director is a critical executive leadership role with the ability to attract projects and people to AECOM.

EXPECTATIONS OF THE ROLE

  • Lead the business development and marketing portion of the strategic plan

  • Drive the growth of major pursuits across the operations

  • Promote teamwork, maintain positive morale, and instill a creative culture within the practice

  • Collaborate and develop an integrated approach across all business lines

  • Work with Regional Business Line Executive to lead client business development relationships and activities

  • Develop the practice by taking the lead on strategies, major proposals, and interviews

  • Understand capability gaps, identify key hires, and build a multi-disciplinary team

  • Contribute as a leader to the technical practice network

  • Serve as an ambassador and the business line and the broader AECOM business

Minimum Requirements

  • 20 or more years of relevant experience

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Strong engineering business development background

  • Capture manager on mega/major pursuits (10 million gross margin / gross revenue $50 million) for the last 5 years

  • Strong understanding of the marketplace

  • Must possess the ability to work multiple markets or business lines

  • Must have the ability to work collaboratively with various market leaders and regional executives in a matrix organization

  • Must have the ability to develop and execute winning strategies for mega programs

  • Develop strategic initiatives in emerging markets

  • Must have the ability and desire to work with and mentor key employees – helping them build their careers

  • Needs extreme flexibility to travel

  • Must be active in associations within the various engineering markets

  • Must have good strategic writing and communication skills

  • Be able to continue the winning proposals track record of 60% for major pursuits

Preferred Qualifications

  • Being an engineer is a plus
