AECOM Electrical Engineer IV or V - Industrial Facilities in Greenwood Village, Colorado

Job Summary

AECOM is seeking an creative, highly talented Electrical Engineer IV or V to be based in our Greenwood Village, CO (Denver) location supporting our Oil and Gas project teams.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Performs electric system calculations, such as, voltage drop, short circuit, load flow, grounding, lightning protection, UPS & battery sizing.

  • Prepares construction packages including deliverables such as single line diagrams, electrical schematics, interconnection drawings, equipment layouts, cable schedules, grounding drawings, lighting drawings, area classification drawings.

  • Prepares specifications, data sheets, RFQs, and technical bid summaries for electrical equipment.

  • Reviews vendor drawings and provides comments as necessary.

  • Performs power system studies and analysis such as load flow, short circuit, breaker and relay coordination and arc flash.

  • Designs and specifies components for electrical distribution and utilization systems.

  • Responsible for engineering and design activities including working directly with other engineers and design drafters to produce engineering documents and designs for various industry related facilities.

  • Assists in the coordination between engineering disciplines, participating in project planning activities, and supports cost and schedule updates.

  • Ensures quality, quantity and completeness of the assigned engineering tasks.

  • Keeps proper engineering files and records.

  • Continually upgrades technical knowledge and capabilities and pursues additional coursework and training.

  • Complies with company’s safety awareness program, office and/or field safety policies.

  • Develops an understanding of the role of each functional area within the company.

  • Conforms to company core values.

  • Acts with integrity in all elements of responsibility.

  • Expresses ideas clearly and listens effectively to the ideas of others.

  • Supports alignment of customer and company objectives.

  • Performs other related engineering work as required.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum Requirements for an Electrical Engineer IV:

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree and 6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalent experience and/or education.

Experience:

  • 6 years of electrical engineering experience, involving the engineering and design of complex electrical systems for industrial plant design facilities.

  • Previous experience preparing and checking electrical drawings and lists.

  • Previous experience performing engineering calculations, preparing specifications and data sheets, performing analyses and maintaining related data.

  • Previous experience preparing construction packages including deliverables such as single line diagrams, electrical schematics, interconnection drawings, equipment layouts, cable schedules, grounding drawings, lighting drawings, area classification drawings.

  • Experience utilizing standards applicable to industrial facilities including the National Electrical Code.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word and Excel.

Minimum Requirements for an Electrical Engineer V:

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree and 8 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalent experience and/or education.

Experience:

  • 8 years of electrical engineering experience, involving the engineering and design of complex electrical systems for industrial plant design facilities.

  • Previous experience preparing and checking electrical drawings and lists.

  • Previous experience performing engineering calculations, preparing specifications and data sheets, performing analyses and maintaining related data.

  • Previous experience preparing construction packages including deliverables such as single line diagrams, electrical schematics, interconnection drawings, equipment layouts, cable schedules, grounding drawings, lighting drawings, area classification drawings.

  • Experience utilizing standards applicable to industrial facilities including the National Electrical Code.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word and Excel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from a 4-year accredited college or university.

  • Registration as a Professional Engineer or willingness to obtain within 1 year of hire.

  • Previous experience performing electrical studies and analysis, using SKM Power Tools, ETAP, or similar power system design software.

  • Previous experience providing electrical estimating to support proposals.

  • Ability to lead engineering design efforts for a project(s).

  • Electrical engineering experience, involving the engineering and design of complex electrical systems, for the oil and gas industry.

  • Knowledgeable in Hazardous Area Classification of Class 1 locations related to the oil and gas industry.
