Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking an Environmental Technician to support residential and municipal sample collection in Michigan, and will be based out the Grand Rapids, Michigan office. We are looking for a candidate with the ability to coordinate and execute sampling activities assigned by Project Managers with respect to the implementation and management of environmental projects. Position requires extensive travelling across the State of Michigan to the project sites.

Additional responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed below:

  • Read, understand, and follow published test methods and standard operating procedures, including company and client specific programs

  • Produce accurate and complete documentation of sample collection according to standard operating procedures

  • Show initiative in maintaining equipment, ordering and organizing supplies

  • Effectively work both independently and in a team environment

  • Effectively communicate with both internal and client personnel regarding schedules and task requirements

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Good verbal and written communication skills are critical

  • Physically able, with or without an accommodation, to work in outdoor environments with uneven terrain, variable outdoor conditions including heat, cold, moisture, dryness, dust, noise, and chemicals; position requires frequent standing/walking; often lifting less than 25 pounds and performing keyboard/mouse operations; operating vehicles, performing repetitive or fine hand movements, carrying hand-held monitoring equipment, and performing work alone in isolated/remote areas; Position will include wearing associated personal protective equipment.

  • Ability to record data neatly, accurately, and legibly

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • A high degree of attention to detail

  • Strong initiative and problem solving skills

  • Ability and willingness to conduct field work, sometimes in adverse outdoor conditions

  • Highly developed computer skills with Microsoft including Excel and Word at minimum

  • Recognized ability to work independently and succeed in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team environment

  • Must pass a State and Federal criminal history/security background check

  • Must participate in and successfully complete a post-offer, pre-employment fitness for duty questionnaire.

  • Must possess a valid driver's license and clean driving record is required. This position requires constant travel outside of the office.

  • This position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associates degree or equivalent experience preferred
