AECOM Groundwater Treatment Plant Operator in Glen Allen, Virginia

AECOM is seeking experienced, creative, and highly talented Groundwater Treatment Plant Operator, Richmond, Virginia. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Performs a variety of tasks in support of project staff.
May gather and maintain specified records of scientific data for supervisor, including but not limited to environmental sampling, operations and maintenance and inspections at client sites.
Other activities may include assisting with calculations, setting up and operating equipment, inspecting equipment and installations for compliance with specifications and maintaining proper project documentation.
Collects and enters data, and applies technical principles and theories under supervision.
Control treatment plant machines and equipment to treat water for industrial use: Operates and controls electric motors, pumps, and valves to regulate flow of raw water into treating plant.
Monitor that specified amounts of chemicals are being supplied as required such as chlorine, ammonia, and lime into water or adjusts automatic devices that admit specified amounts of chemicals into tanks to disinfect, deodorize, and clarify water.
Starts agitators to mix chemicals and allows impurities to settle to bottom of tank.
Turns valves to regulate water through filter beds to remove impurities.
Monitor the pumping of treated water through the effluent / outfall.
Monitors panelboard and adjusts controls to regulate flow rates, loss of head pressure and water elevation, and distribution of water.
Cleans tanks and filter beds, using backwashing.
Repairs and lubricates machines and equipment, using hand tools and power tools.
Tests water samples to determine acidity, color, and impurities, using colorimeter, turbidimeter, and conductivity meter.
Operate centrifuge as required to process solids.
Record miscellaneous data as required.
Participate in finalizing / developing procedures for the operation of the treatment facility.
Adhere to the site’s General Site Conditions.
Adhering to the plant’s O&M, Waste Management and Health and Safety Plan
Oversee contractors as required.
Assist in resolving issues or problems concerning the operation of the treatment facility.
Capable of functioning with spreadsheet, word processing and standard office software.
High School diploma or equivalent + 2 years of relevant experience or associate degree
Must pass a State and Federal criminal history/security pre-employment background check; many projects/ clients are security sensitive and require periodic post-employment background checks
Must pass pre-employment drug screen.
Must be able to successfully complete initial and random screening requirements including drug, breathalyzer, urine and hair test.
Must possess a valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Participate in and successfully complete post-offer, pre-employment baseline physical in accordance with 29 CFR 1910.120. Thereafter, candidate must also comply with OSHA (29 CFR 1910.120) requirements including 40hr/8 hr, medical surveillance.
Candidate must be able to meet the medical clearance requirements of an OSHA (HAZWOPER) medical surveillance physical examination.
Physically able, with or without an accommodation, to work in outdoor and indoor environments with uneven terrain, variable outdoor conditions including heat, cold, noise, moist, dry, dust, and chemicals; position requires frequent standing/walking, climbing stairs, and using portable ladders (weight must be 300 lbs or less); often operating vehicles, and working alone in isolated areas; occasionally power gripping/squeezing (hand tools, levers, etc.), working at heights, wearing fall protection (weight must be 310 lbs or less), working in an environment of heavy, moving, dangerous equipment, working in a confined space, performing keyboard/mouse operations, performing repetitive or fine hand movements, and lifting of less than 25 pounds; rarely working with arms above shoulder level, repetitive bending & stooping, and lifting of 25-50 pounds. Position will include wearing associated personal protective equipment, including respiratory protection, fall protection and chemical/Acid suit.

Confined Space Trained
Flexibility on work hours. This includes working weekends and night.
A minimum of 2 years related ground water / waste water treatment plant operating experience.
