Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated IT Infrastructure Intern for employment in Germantown, MD office.

The successful candidate will support the Technology Solutions Department in maintaining the infrastructure required for developing and maintaining customer-specific IT projects.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Support for local developers/users with general computing

  • Migration and consolidation of servers

  • Developing documentation for internal and cloud infrastructure

  • Performing inventory and standardization of internal department assets

  • Testing of backups to ensure successful disaster recovery with no errors

  • Monitoring server performance and metrics and troubleshoot issues as they arise

Minimum Requirements

  • Currently in pursuit of Bachelor’s degree, Associates Degree or Certification in IT or other related field required

  • Due to the nature of work, candidate MUST be a U.S. citizen

  • Only local candidates will be considered

Preferred Qualifications

  • General knowledge in the administration of full-cycle development environments: source control, testing/staging/production, issue tracking, etc.

  • Basic experience in the Installation and configuration of open source technologies

  • General knowledge of most operating system commands and utilities, Windows and LinuxFamiliarity of networking concepts

  • Basic experience with web servers: IIS, Apache, Nginx and database Servers: MSSQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL

  • Ability to troubleshoot common networking/infrastructure issues

  • General knowledge of virtualization: VMWare, Hyper-V

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
